Opening day today, but haven’t been out yet. Been one of those days getting things done and running around. All done now I’m going out to the field awhile. All together last year I got 45 doves.

Great eating. You definitely need a dog however to find the downed ones.
Shoulder surgery prevents my hunting this year . Maybe next year. Around here ,opening day is a big deal. Several farmers put on hunts over freshly picked corn and sunflower fields . Prices vary but usually around 50 bucks with lunch as part of the deal. Big social event and tons of fun
Never tried dove. We don't have a season on them. What flavor do the resemble, compared to quail, Grouse, pheasant???? We love quail and Pheasant. Not many grouse in SJ, But we do have a ton of them up in PA. I try to get a few every year up there.
They're good, lighter than pheasant and more like chicken with a breast tenderloin
Hoping to get out over the weekend !!!
Got 4 of them this evening. Least I didn’t get skunked. Usually averages out to about 3 shots per bird.
Doves are delicious. Just takes so many to make a meal.
