Credible, or BS?
Comments
Plausible
Been happening for at least a couple of years. Here is one I remember from last year;
I think about it when I am picking up the crap the stupid litterbugs leave along our property up by the road. Bob
Do a Googly search for 'Drano bomb', it'll really open your eyes!
Plastic bottle is not going to remove hands or digits, lol. Yes these were around when I was a teenager.
I say BS , pretty sure that combination makes hydrogen gas and it gets hot enough to quickly melt a plastic bottle and the reaction is instant.
When we were kids we did the exact same thing only with large glass soda bottles.
What we did however aws to put the water into a balloon, stretch the balloon over the end of the bottle then lift the balloon allowing the water to drain into the tin foil, lye mixture thus creating a chemical reaction filling the balloon with the gas, remove balloon, tie knot and it floats like a helium balloon .......... BUT ....... touch it with a spark of any kind and BOOM, huge fire ball. BTW, the glass bottle gets so hot that they sometimes broke from the intense heat
We just used M-80's to blow up mail boxes, my how times have changed.....
Read Gunbroker.
Learn how to make bombs.

Its the real deal.

Kind of a poor man’s way of making hydrogen gas.
As I recall, in my misspent youth, you have to be pretty patient for that to reaction to happen,
So, how would you keep the ingredients isolated from one another inside the bottle with water in it in order to transport or place it? The chemical reaction does not depend on agitation, only contact of the three ingredients.
Anyway, our hydrogen balloons were 60 years ago and never meant to be bombs (that was the last thing we wanted since we were handling them) we just made hydrogen balloons that we discovered, quite by accident, would produce a three to four foot diameter fireball when contacted with an ignition source. Good times ..................
The problem is once the tin foil hits the drano it starts the reaction, so is the foil suspended above the drano mixture? I think the little children mixing this stuff will blow themselves up😮
Can't get M-80s or Cherry Bombs any longer. Can't buy a good sturdy mailbox either😥
I haven’t bought Drano in over 50 years. But if I remember right, the old can of drano was just lye crystals that had little shards of aluminum in it. And when you poured it down the drain and it came into contact with the water in the trap, you would hear the reaction of the aluminum and lye churning and it created heat to help unstop the drain.
Easy off oven cleaner is another form of lye, but is sprayed on. And if you notice on the directions it says to not spray on aluminum.
We would get a one quart glass 7-Up bottle, put 2 tbsp Red Devil lye in there, along with some strips of aluminum foil. Add 2 tbsp water. Then we stretched a balloon over the bottle top, the mixture fizzed up and in five minutes we had a nice hydrogen balloon.
We made lots of them and indeed, sometimes the mixture got so hot the glass cracked. What a mess that was.
We did lots of these in high school, but never to hurt anyone, or never in a place/manner that risked hurting anyone (besides our own dumb selves). They were powerful, though. Gatorade bottles were the go-to. I quit messing with them, though, because you could never judge how long the reaction would take. Might be 10 minutes to BOOM.......or it might be 10 seconds. Very dangerous.
Dry-ice had the same effect, without all the dangerous chemicals.
Kids were doing that back in the 1990's.
