Another stupid act
A couple days back My wife brought home a new toy for our grand kid of course it needed battery's.
Any way the big dummy me I have did it in the past with same results too many times
I used a razor knife to slice open the seald hard plastic package
of course a pair of scissors were right there beside the knife
But no I chose wrong tool again. I have lost track of the cuts I have done doing stupid things
the knife jumped due to pulling too hard out of the plastic clam shell and right thru into two of the tips of my fingers on my left hand
You would think after similar times I would never use a knife but aperantly I am a slow learner or just love pain
my middle finger should have stitches From many trips to the ER over the years I know what needs sewed up . My ring finger not as bad band aid should keep it ok
I am for now just using gauze and stretch bandage to keep it in place on my middle finger And keeping it clean of course and keeping it changed often
Maybe some day I will learn don't do that .
the grand kid was happy with his new toy that's the good part of the story
No big deal I have done much worse and odds are will happen again
but can't sleep as in most nights so just rambling on about my latest self inflected injury

Ditch........
If you can momentarily close the cut..........add a few beads of super glue. A few applications should hold the cut closed, unless the area is over-flexed.
With enough experience.....like me🤕.......you can almost avoid any scar..........not to mention ER/doctor bills.😱
But........if like a few of our friends........you just so happen to shove a railroad spike completely through your foot........get a danged TETANUS SHOT!!!!🤯🙄😛
Hope this helps......
Yes
agree
super glue is our friend For a clean razor cut
Super glue is the answer. Closed up many of sheet metal cuts with super glue. Scars are not bad either.
Super Glue works almost too good! Try and get that off your skin if you get it where you dont want it.
Fingernail polish remover and acetone ? I think is another it will take it right off
Sons bought me a Spyderco knife for my birthday one year.I was cutting a piece of heavy rope. The new sharp knife cut through the rope with one swipe plus cut both thumbs with the same swipe.
Whoever designed those packages should be strung up and have their family jewels rung like a church bell for a couple days.
I've been cut by the package itself while cutting it open with scissors.
I can really relate to this thread.
My wife says that one of my hobbies is bleeding.
I recall reading some years back
Those hard clam shell packages create many trips to the ER every year same thing people trying to open them
I know I have never liked them just a PITA
I keep telling my Grandsons about these happenings but they keep on not listening with similar results to yours.
Maybe a pair of those round ended scissors would be in order !!!!🙃
I can't throw stones in this case.....I have the scars to show I need to be more careful too.
sad part I had a pair ( actually several ) of scissors on the desk beside the knife
I have scars on top of scars some I knew better but did it any way and paid in blood
when I was younger it was too bad the ER did not give out frequent flyer points for stiches.
I still have all ten digits amazing as it seems
however my left index finger is partial numb it took several years for it to get any feeling back in it
from a box knife cut and trip to the ER and a long story 😕
Speaking about nails
I remember the first Niall I stepped on
I was about 8 yrs old
We Stopped by a friend's of my dad's for some reason
I was told just sit in the car .
But did I no ,
I got out and was climbing on a stack of old lumber by their garage and sure enough got a nail stuck in my foot Fairley deep and hurt big time
Dad beat my butt then said this is not for stepping on the nail but for getting out of the car when I was told not to
I think it was a toss up my foot hurting or my behind from dad's corrective action
My parents were old-school southerns
Any infraction of a rule breaking was a sure butt ,well really what ever part of us kids body made the easiest target
And of course the classic line they always said
I will give you something to cry about and they would
Also, "Skin so Soft" from Avon will take anything off. Tip came from my wife Diane.-----------------Ray
Thanks all for the advice and concern
Its 6 days in its healing up fine
The advantage of having a nice clean razor cut no jagged edges to try and mend
When I make it into town I will pick up some of the products you have suggested to help seal and protect the cuts
History shows I will do more stupid things again and at least I will have supply on hand
My wife makes fun of me now because I keep more boxes of different size band aids than some stores on hand
We have two old bottles of that Avon product in the bathroom cupboard. Been there for a very long time since our youngest sons were little. We used it for mosquito repellant instead of that stinky OFF stuff. I seemed to work quite well for that too! I just opened one of the bottles to see if it was still good, and it seems OK. The smell brings back memories of old camping days!
Thank you Ray for giving me another use for Skin so Soft!
Good to hear Ditch!👍
The trick is to get the cut closed as soon as possible, before swelling starts.........just be absolutely sure the wound is clean, and antiseptic applied.
I also keep a styptic pencil handy, to help stop any bleeding sooner.......and therefore able to close the cut quicker.
BTW...........having an RN for a wife, is also real handy!!😉
Always cut toward your buddy.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
