While I was dropping the kids off at the pool, my wife said there were 5 deer in the front yard. Then they went into the backyard where there were 3 more. They browsed around for a while then sauntered off into the woods.

Nothing like sauntering deer in your yard.
Their every where here in the finger lakes, until opening day.
Are you sure they didn't sashay??? Sometimes it is hard to decipher between a saunter and a sashay with whitetails. Heck I have even seen a few that did the two step, once or twice!!! Oak
Tons of acorns dropping here, will scatter the deer for a while.
