I'm looking to see if Winchester ever made the barrels for the Winchester M1 Garand?

Thanks for your time and any info you might have!!!

Most, if not all, Winchester M1's were originally assembled with Winchester barrels. After rebuild, you will find barrels made by other manufacturers were installed.

Edit: Vernon, early M1's (known as "gas traps") had a brass cap screw cover to prevent removal of the front sight. Most were altered later in WW2 to "gas port" configuration, & are now as scarce as hens' teeth.

Neal - Thanks for the answer! I hope that if you have the time that you might answer one more question???

Did the front sight of the 1M Garand ever have an insert say like brass or non at all?

    Thanks again!!
