I JUST picked up a pre war 1939 year Garand and it has this stock mark and can't find it so far on any sights. Looks like AAG or ARG on it. Any help appreciated. Just starting to peel the onion and wow is there a lot to learn.
It still HAS the locking bar rear sight which I think is a big plus so far.

If by "mark" you mean "stamped", it's likely rebuilt at Augusta Arsenal.
