...when I remember where I put something instead of searching until I stumble upon it.

Yep,
This is quite a task when right after you have moved a 40 years accumulation of stuff to a new place and need to find where you placed/stored that gizmo later.
I was working on the mower deck the other day and the tension spring for the belt was in the way so I removed it. Finished my repair and reassembled everything except the spring had disappeared. A half hour later I found it exactly where I had put it so it wouldn't get misplaced. Once again I proved that a 10 min job can take almost an hour and that my swearing vocabulary has not diminished with age. 😁 Bob
And when you walk into a room and actually remember why you went there.
Never have that problem........if it's the BATHROOM!!😎
Can't dispute any of above
I also can relate to everything listed !!!
How many times have you bought another one or two because you already did that?
I had an air chuck for the compressor that hung on a nail in my old shop for 30 years.Always there when I needed it. One day it was not there.Maybe it fell down behind the toolbox, nope not there. Its hanging close to the window and the window is open for the summer, maybe it fell out and is in the shrubbery beside the shop.Nope not there.I looked high and low in the shop. Not there.Ask both sons Anyone know where the air chuck is? Nobody knew.Went to the hardware store and bought a new air chuck, went to hang it on the nail and there was the old air chuck. At first I thought I was losing it,then I remembered I had 2 teenage sons.I didn't pursue the matter anymore, but I am sure one of the boys lost then found dads air chuck.
Friend of mine says he thinks a lot about the hereafter. He's always looking around and asking himself "what am I here after?".
I was looking for something else & came upon a small socket. Yep, 10mm. And yes Jim, I painted it red.
Wow you guys, I thought it was just me. Well I'm in good company, that's for sure!
I've been having back issues a lot lately. I got a cold pack out of the freezer and stuck it under my belt covering the painful bits. I had it on all day. I woke up the next morning and groped around to find the cold pack, but couldn't find it. I looked all over the house, in the barn, in the tractor, and it was nowhere to be found. The next day I was in the basement working and a fly kept buzzing me. I went to get my fly swatter, and during the trek, I felt something slide down my leg, which to be honest scared the crap out of me. Then it finally hit the floor and there was my lost (warm) pack.
I spend more time trying to find stuff I had in my hand 10 minutes ago than I actually spend doing the task. And it's not getting any better.

Yeah but stumbling upon it is more of a "discovery" ............................
I can’t remember now what I was going to say here, something about memory I think.
I thought you were going to say, you put your pants on the right way this morning. LOL🤣
What a really great post. Makes me feel normal🤔
It is not lost until you give up looking.
