Pairing up calibers for hunting with rifle/handgun

Any of you guys do this. I hunt with my lever action Marlin 41 mag and my S&W 41 mag. I also do this in 44 mag and 22 Hornet. When I go squirrel hunting, I carry my Ruger 77/22 Hornet and my Taurus Raging Hornet as a side arm for shorter shots. I can use the same loads, for both my handgun and Rifle , while out hunting a variety of animals. What do you guys carry??? Oakie

I kill em with the rifle, never needed the pistol.......
I do not. Hope this helps.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
Yes - Model 788 - bolt action - in 44 magnum and S&W Model 29 in 44 magnum. If a hog runs across in front of me when the rifle is on the sling behind me - the Model 29 is readily available.
Best Regards - AQH
Usually a .22 pistol and a 35 whelen or .308 when deer hunting. A shotgun and a .357 revolver when hunting small game in coyote country. When going for varmints with a 223 I carry any pistol that strikes my fancy.
No matter what game I am hunting for, I always have a .357 mag revolver on my side.
Over the years, I have used that pistol instead of my rifle to take a whitetail.
This year, during doe season, I intend to carry my Ruger 77/44 and Super Redhawk, both in .44 mag.
Ruger 10/22 & Ruger Wrangler.
Winchester 94 .44 Mag & Ruger Flattop Bisley .44 Special. Both loaded with Buffalo Bore .44 Special ammo. I want to try hog hunting with this combo.
I've never tried it, but will likely have a GI-spec 1911A1 on my hip when I carry my trusty Model 94 in 30WCF out to the woods in about 6 weeks. If I wind up eventually buying an old '73 in 44WCF, I might take that hunting and strap on my SAA in the same chambering, but that'd be awhile from now if it even happens.
I rarely hunt much beyond sight of my house so the 'need' to have a secondary gun in a matching caliber is nil.
When I was younger, I often carried a handgun on the off chance I'd get to shoot a close range deer with the short gun. Not any more, I go as light as possible and/or trade the weight of a handgun for more/warmer clothes.
Most of the time I carry my CCW pistol while Deer hunting. I frequently will trade it out for a 357 mag revolver.
But no I don't believe in matching calibers between pistols and rifles. This aint the old west. My horse aka Jeep or F150 can carry 2 or more types of ammo.
I also generally use my 6” 686 also…. 2 whitetails with it in the last 6 years
In past years of coyote calling, I would usually carry an AMT 6" 22Mag in my day pack.......along with calling equipment. I would have it at-the-ready, on my right side, while calling........as you'd be surprised at how often a yote might try to run up the end of my rifle barrel!😳
Of course........camo and setup positioning have a lot to do with it. 😉
Pretty old caller pic.........still had cassette player with auto amp.🤫
I would, but Glock doesn't make a pistol in .270 Winchester...
Yet.
a drill and a hammer and you could make em fit............
Not so much for hunting, but I do like to pair up calibers. Hey, anything that gets more guns in the safe is fine with me 😁
