Do chickens get lonely?

Actually a rooster. Way up here in N.Y. State on the Vermont border, some knucklehead dumped a rooster out of his car and took off. This happened about three weeks ago, and it has been hanging around this small town neighborhood. Crows most of the day as it walks from one yard to the next.
It seems to be making out okay pecking around eating whatever it can find. Beautiful bird, brown, red and orange.
I assume the cold will eventually get it, or a coyote or bobcat. I was thinking of trying to catch it and offering it to some local Amish, though it would probably end up in a canning jar....

Yep, they can get lonely. If you can catch him, good luck, you might be able to find him a good home. Even if he ended up in a canning jar, at least he wouldn't be left to scrabble for survival.
We have one rooster. A rescue from the dump. My Border Collie Bobby is his best friend. I kid you not

Yes they do, but BBQ sauce seems to cure that........
Of course they get lonely!
😁
Yes they do. My cousin raises fancy show chickens- and they ARE some pretty birds. Cuz and I will be sitting in a lawn chair, one of her ladies will come over and hop up in her lap to get petted.
He might have got dumped after he got a bit frisky,I rescued one once and let him live in the goat barn ,one day he went stupid ,soon as I would open the door he would take the hat off my head,I could yell rooster on my way to barn and he would screaming, last straw was he started attacking my goats,so off to the local auction, sold for enough for me to stop on way home for McDonald's chicken sammish, nice colorfully fellow but he had fighting genes in him
I would try to catch it and rehome the poor guy. Yes they get lonely. Even though most of us are hunters, we still have compassion for all animals. I'm sure some farmer would like to have him. Oak
This one is not lonely!
