RIP MARTHA
I am really sad to report Martha has left the building.......The little cutie really worked her way into our hearts..
She has been gone for 8 days as of this morning....... she has been away from home overnight a few times over the years but always is waiting by the door the next day. The neighbors have been watching for her and she has not shown up there either...
We have walked the ditches, the hayfield, the neighbor's woods, our whole place, everywhere she has ever been spotted over the years.... NADA. I set up different game cameras in the yard and around the places she used to hang out...NADA... All the other usual critters, the known feral cats in the area but that was it...I have gone out and called her every morning and night and in between... NADA
Too many coyotes around this year, too many knot heads driving way too fast up and down our road, bobcats eagles, hawks, farm equipment out working in the fields etc...
I knew the day we took her in when she was around 5 weeks that this could happen. Seems the older I get, the deeper I feel loss....
I want to believe she is out there but it is so unlikely now...Rest in Peace Martha, we have great memories of you...

Sorry to hear this news and hoping she will show up. Losing a pet can be a hard thing.
I respect you, William, and will refrain from saying how I feel about cats.
Sad read William81. I've been down that road too many times myself.
It is amazing how those little family members can capture our hearts. We haven't had a cat for 10 years and I will admit I shed a tear or two when we laid our last one to rest. It was also a stray kitten that we took in and she lasted for 10 years. Know that you gave her a chance and your love when you adopted her. She had a much longer and happier life as a result. Condolences, Bob
Oh no. So sad.
Sorry to hear, Will. Your time was too short.
very sorry to hear this. I know exactly how your feeling. I always considered myself tough, until we lost our dog last month. I cried hard, for three days. Even Donna said, that was the first time she seen me ever cry since we have been together. My prayers for you William. Oakie
Many lost small pets are coyote fodder.
Don't care for cats either but a big stray tabby showed up awhile back. Must have been a house cat before coming here. Wife even took up with him but after a few weeks he came up missing.
Have 5 cats & 6 dogs buried along our fence line. Never easy.
So very sorry to hear this, William. I wish there were words I could write that would help to ease your pain.
Sorry to hear. I don't post much but I have been following your posts about Martha. Probably the main reason I don't have a dog or cat is because of the inevitable loss.
sorry for your loss
We've had a feral living on our porch for 10 years now. Still can't pet her but we worry when she's not around for a few hours.
Sorry for your loss. We will all miss the Martha stories.
So sorry for your loss, it hurts. So many of us here got completely attached to Martha.
Sorry man, this is exactly why we refuse to do any more pets. Too hard on the heart.
May your Martha rest in peace.
My first words reading your thread title was Oh know not Martha....
I'll still pray for a miracle 🙏❤️ He listens.

So sorry to hear
It's difficult to say how we feel in words on the loss of a 4 legged family member Or even some one else's pet as we all have felt the pain of loss
Good by Martha you provided us with a lot of smiles and memories
We have a section of our yard with many of our departed beloved pets buried there
My wife each year gets a new calender and transfer dates like birthdays and events and also the passing of family memberes friends .
And our pets that have went to the rainbow Bridge
Over the years each new calender has gotten a lot of names added it's sad to see all the companions we have lost
never forgotten each one holds a special place in our hearts
This is sad news Frank, I feel for you and will miss seeing pics of Martha.
I’m sorry to hear of your loss. It makes it harder to except the loss and put closure when you can’t find the body. I have had cats all my life, and domestic cats don’t usually have a very big range. I have had them disappear and show up later, especially if they’re not spay or neutered. Cats rely a lot on scent and can become confused on direction. Try and and hang one of your shirts out on the porch, she my pick up the scent. Again, if she doesn’t show up I’m sorry.
Very sad. Who knows, she may still turn up.
Sorry to hear about your missing Martha Frank. Several years ago, I had a feral cat that lived out in my workshop. Stayed with me for nearly 10 years and came and went at his leisure. I fed him well and we got along just fine.
Then one day he failed to come back. After about 5 months, I threw away all of his dishes, treats, food, and a litter box that he used on bad weather occasions. Just a day or two after all his stuff got picked up by the trashman......He showed up!! 😲
When it comes to missing cats there is always hope.
Sorry to hear it. That is why ours never go farther than the screened porch.
Sorry to hear about Martha. We had a similar experience with a cat that was a stray. He did not want to stay in the house.
Agree we have had cats disappear for weeks
We were sure it gone for good something got them or just wondered off
Then out of the blue they would show up to the delight of my wife
Sorry to hear about Martha.
We lost Roscoe in the same way. No clue as to what happened.
He could have been Martha’s long lost brother…
We have people here catch cats and take them to the animal shelter. You might want to check.
I had a cat named Miranda. Her mother, Miss Thibeau, was also my pet and Miranda was born in my house. Great pet. I was living in a 14-wide trailer at the time.
I then built a nice big 3br log cabin up on the lake. Miss Thibeau had passed away, so I took Miranda up to the new house on the lake. Cats at my house have it made, I make a cup of coffee, the coffee gets a shot of cream, cat gets a 1 ounce shot of cream in her bowl.
I eat grilled venison steak for dinner, the cat eats grilled venison steak. Indoor-outdoor deal only. After a year at the log cabin, one day my pet was gone! I looked and looked for weeks and couldn't find her. I was sure she was dead. One day I was driving to work, there was Miranda a half mile away on the shoulder of the road, hunting for mice. I went back there the next morning with a can of cat food, she would not come to me. She gave me a funny look as to say, "Dump the food and beat it." So I did.
Went back every day for a week but she would not come to me. Damn cat would rather live in the woods than in my fine house on the lake. A dog would never do you that way.
Six months later, one of my buddies from work said my cat was living at a 14 wide trailer a mile from my house. I went over there that afternoon, there was Miranda! The people said their little girl just loved the cat, and they were feeding her well. I said "Well, y'all can keep her."
I guess the cat preferred a 14-wide trailer to a log cabin.

I love it .... and ............ You Sir, are absolutely right ! 😁
I've had two cats in my life (brother and sister) both were indoor cats and both of them, after many years, hauled butt the first chance they got and I never saw them again. That's cats for you, they make you like them, then they leave.
.When You And Your Cat Are Fighting
Once I was setting off fireworks for the 4th of July, and our cat took off, not to be seen again until 1 year later. She returned and acted like she had never been gone!
I have just a little bit to add to this story. When ole Salem the cat showed back up after his long absence, he was a pound or two heavier and was missing his shnuts!! 😁
He should have stayed home ....................................
Everytime I see this thread, I miss Martha ❤️🙏 still praying for you.

Martha rescued herself. This time.
But, can she ever escape her inner demons?
Sorry I did not update the original post. Martha returned home after 16 days ! We were very happy to see her again !
