I quit selling on a popular auction site when they started to require payment via paypal 20 year ago. They never stopped adding layers upon layers of fees, hassles, & requirements after that, thus I've never sold on there since, and maybe bought two hard to find $20 items since then.
This appears to be the last of the good old days. At least I can say "I remember when.........."
Sad to see this unnecessary turn of events. 😪
Is there a sign up link for this service as a seller?
I will also voice my opinion that I am very much against this and it will be detrimental to both our gunbroker sales and the overall sales on GunBroker.com.
This not for me for various reasons. I will not buy from Gunbroker ever again unless something changes with their new process. Once my current auction for a few bullets is over I won't be selling either. I've also just received a request for drivers license info and a utility bill from Gunbroker to "verify" who I am immediately followed by a $7.00 charge to my Visa.
It would be amazing if they will offer a way to discount shipping automatically for multiple item purchasers along with the new platform.
I realize that it's probably a misguided opinion that some buyers have that they prefer to send payment through the mail to avoid privacy issues but it's going to disappoint a certain number of long term customers who simple want to avoid credit cards for whatever reason.
I don't like the fact that they will have a finger in your bank account for buy payments, have to set up small account if I stay
No one has a finger in my bank accounts, nor will they.
Many brick-and-mortar gun shops have closed in NY, leaving a buyer to look online, and usually end up on GB. With the cost of selling, the new fee to sell, sales tax, and GB fees, coupled with the ever-increasing shipping firearm sales are going to tank.
I have been in business for 43 years and am watching my customer base shrink, and doing lots of transfers from online sellers other than GB. The sellers are consumer direct and sell for pennies over what I pay for a product. The end is near.
been doing the business 42 years just renewed ffl might be my last
Lots of complaints on other forums about this. I hate to say it but I think I'm done buying from the auction side.
Look at all the fees on my most recent purchase:
That's almost $100 over the price of the auction. You still have to add $20 transfer on top of that.
