Yup they made another one. It's like "Tremors". I wonder when they'll put out a tv series?

There's a LOT about 'snipers' that couldn't possibly be presented to the public. In a real life comparison, a sniper's 'work' varies from beating kittens to death to facing a charging lion.

Huh? Beating kittens to death? There's no need for that.

Dude it's a crappy extension movie. Like Jackie Chan's "Karate Kid". Why they never went with "Kung-Fu Kid" I'll never know.

Obviously, the comparison was lost on some folks.

Sniper work isn't all taking out the super bad dudes toting AK's or wearing bomb vests. Sometimes it's removing what might be considered 'non-combatants' who happen to be very influential.

Ah "American Sniper" popping the kid then the mom scene.

  • MobuckMobuck Member Posts: 14,079 ✭✭✭✭

Sort of. At least in that scene there was an imminent and obvious 'threat'.

    It all about making money.

    'It all about making money.'

I assume you mean the movie??

  • yoshmysteryoshmyster Member Posts: 21,852 ✭✭✭✭

Yeah it's about the money but they went off the original plot years ago. I think the last one that was good was "Sniper: Legacy" the one in Africa then everything else followed became silly. But I still keep buying like a dummy.

The life of a 'sniper' isn't always as glamorous as the movies make it appear. Mostly cold, hot, wet, dirty, eaten alive by insects, cramped, uncomfortable, bored beyond reason, alone in the middle of 'crapville' with maybe only a spotter or radio operator, and sometimes scared spitless. BUT always gotta be ready to 'take the shot' even if you're not sure about the veracity of the info that designated the target. Getting shot at but can't return fire as that would not fit the plan. Left to 'sit out' a missed pickup because too many folks are watching. It ain't all of what it's glorified to be.

IMHO, just about every good movie worth watching that gets a remake down the road......

The remake stinks and even sometimes ruins the plot of the original movie!

Two examples off the top of my head are "Highlander" and "The Matrix"

"Highlander" was a fun watch. The bit that always bothered me was the survivalist that didn't slide down the three feet of steel. Otherwise everything was realistic.

Supposedly they're re-making it. they been trying for like the past 20 years. It has to be a period piece since there are so many cameras these days. Be kind a cool if the whole movie was done on the perspective from security cameras.
