Sitting at stoplight waiting for it to change . Hear tires squealing and look up.in rear view mirror .See a truck behind me get rear-ended and see them headed for me. Only had time to think " oh crap, this is going to hurt " then bam I got hit . Minor damage to my truck but my back hurts. Sitting at ER waiting to get checked out while I type this .Some days it don't pay to get out of bed . How was your afternoon ?

Dont know if you live in a border state or sanctuary city, but its common to get hit by an illegal or an "entrant" without a DL or insurance. Although I no longer live in TX, seems many of my family members and friends who live there have had fender benders most all are illegals who shouldn't be driving.
If the illegals car is drivable, they drive away quickly. If the car is not drive-able, they flee on foot.
Uninsured drivers insurance is your friend.

That totally sucks. I had the same thing happen only I heard three distinct bangs before the truck behind me crushed the back hatch of my SUV about 15 years ago. Got out and looked and the instigator of the accident had the whole front end of their truck crushed. A couple of us managed to pry open the door and get the driver out. We did this because of the smoke coming out from where his front end used to be. Cops, ambulances, fire dept. and tow trucks were there in just minutes. Fortunately, I was the 4th in line and wasn't injured and even drove my vehicle home. The folks he hit first were ambulatory but had sore backs and necks. I hope your injury isn't serious and you recover quickly! Bob
Chiefr, we ,volunteer fire dept I am in ,call them "jumping beans " . Farm country with thousands of them around . Still waiting on xray at er . Truck is drivable I do know that I have a busted tailight and a dented bumper .
Hope your back gets to feeling better. It can hurt to wrench your back.
Such accidents can go weeks months then show up in major back pain or injury

I once was stopped at a red light and a woman (reading the paper while driving) rear ended me doing nearly fifty miles an hour, she had insurance with a max payout of $10,000 ........... that didn't even pay for the vehicle much less the medical bills and the three months of missed work ...................................... she did apologize however but that didn't buy groceries.

Better than yours. 😁I would suggest you see a Chiropractor for your back. All the hospital will do is prescribe pain pills or want to operate.

some years ago a friends daughter had just left school she was at a stop sign a car hit her from behind totaled her car messed her up also back and neck
next morning bright and early the guy who hit her and his parents' all filed bankruptcy. they had nothing and no insurance any way , but went all in to avoid any claims.
my friends insurance covered most of car and hospital but she is hurt for life and crickets from the people whose fault it was

I got rear ended by a beer truck in traffic control.................talk about hurting my feelings. Fast Eddie but slowing down.

I got hit like that back in 2002 in Washington State by legally blind driver. My head bent the headrest in my Nissan King Cab pick up on the way to hit the back glass. I kept the head rest but I wonder where I put that? Kind a shocked that I wasn't hurt at the time. Not that Tacoma General (I think that was the place) checked me out. Just got an ambulance ride and snoot full of O2. 20 some years later I'm okay? Not that I made them pay for future medical.

Driver was charged with failure to reduce speed .had been drinking but blew less than .08 on the test .Therefore they could not charge him with . DUI

Same to me. Car rear ended me. He as looking at some storm damage.
His insurance company fixed the car, and offered my $ 800 ( 1999). I was thinking that was what I needed for that need Colt Government I wanted. Never thought of the future.
Well years latter my neck is still snapping and popping and stiff. Wish I'd gone the route of getting a better settlement.
Hate to say it but look into Suing, the Insurance company for future pain/ suffering.

Been there, had that happen. The violators ins. co. was VERY generous with the settlement dollars. I'm sure they were concerned I was going to go to an "Ambulance Chaser Lawyer".
Since he ,the at fault driver was drinking,a fact noted by highway patrol, I expect they will be easy to deal with.
