Learnt the true meaning of a word at the dentist.

What word? Fistula. I heard the word before and I knew it was a medial thing but it always sounded like a degenerate sexual maneuver.
So I cracked a molar couple months back and it developed an infection. Since there was no pain I didn't go to the dentist right away. Anyways they want to do a root canal and put a crown but I ain't down with the price. I think someone has a mortgage payment due. I'm gonna have them yank it. I ain't gonna pay their bills.

Fairly common word around horse folks.
Wasn't that a movie? "Fistula Dollars"?
Fistula can form in many places, just don't stick a fist where it don't belong
Eventually you will run out of teeth and they come in really handy for eating food.
The original Clint Eastwood Fist Full of Dollars movie starred "The Man With No Name".
The Fistula version featured Yoshmyster as "The Man With No TEETH" ! 😁
I thought that word was used in the kidney dialysis world. Refers to the entry port on the wrist.
I don't know how old you are but keep your teeth. Find a dental clinic. I know you would rather buy a gun, but you will thank me later.
"Independence Now, Independence Forever."
John Adams
I think Sam Houston suffered from one, in his abdomen, from a saber wound that did not heal.
@yoshmyster , I was at the dentist this afternoon for a toothache. Yup back molar is cracked down to the nerve and he can't save it. I started an antibiotic to ward off an infection. He'll pull it out Thursday & put in bone graph material in case I want an implant later. They guestimate $421 after insurance. I didn't price the implant & cap.
I normally chew on my right side any ways. The thing is I'm not in pain and I can chew on the bad side.
Lady Rae - Buy a gun here in California? That's illegal.
Brookwood - Fewer teeth but not Hillbilly.
austin20 - Dental School? Yeah I wanna be their guinea pig. Run out of teeth or time, I wonder which would get here first?
KenK/84Bravo - You can gum ramen. Or if you're skilled you can deep throat it without chewing. Not that I tried this. Besides I still got chompers on the right side.
Toolman286 - Mine wants to root canal and crown it. I reckon it's been drilled out so much and there can't be much tooth left. Kind a like patching up a rusted and busted out Pinto with gold. It doesn't make sense to me to save something that'll need to be yanked eventually (is my thought). Besides I'll go on soft foods in about 10/15 years so why get the gold crown? I think I heard $3 grand and it's not like I'm gonna get my money's wroth in gold up in there.
I'd rather have teeth than guns.
You pass this off rather half heartedly but there will come a time when you will regret not investing in your mouth. Gold for molars is necessary because regular crowns won't stand up as well.
If you think root canals and crowns are expensive, whait till you see what implants cost and they sometimes get rejected by your body and the process takes nearly a year.
You seem to take this rather lightly, that's a mistake.
They did not use gold for my crowns. Still cost $3500 each with a root canal. It is porcelain pressed on steel or something like that.
Just had it down yesterday afternoon. And they drilled down another to fill a cavity. They will no doubt want to crown that one later.
No fun.
Went back in, today in same word used ! It's been bothering me for a week or so.
Need a Crown replaced, it's a 30 year old Gold Crown with a cavity under it.
Already had one taken out from that back side so I think I need to keep this tooth. Wife's plan has fairly good dental coverage.60% and they will give me 6 months to pay balance on it from the office.
A corner chipped off this molar 3 years ago. Dentist wanted to grind it down & cap it. I said no, just take the sharp edges off. All good until the tooth cracked. Now, I either go without that last molar or pay more for the implant & cap. Hind site says I should have spent the money then & saved the tooth.
Come on who says you can't make a smoothies out of a rare steak? Chewing's over rated. If this was my last molar I would think more about it but it ain't.
bullshot - I don't think I'll live long enough to get implants. That's dentures, right?
hoosier - Wow cavity under the crown? That sucks. All that work and the cost and you have to re-do it? But you did get 30 years.
Toolman286 - This tooth of mine is more amalgam than tooth. I do wonder how long the crown would last? But I got a feeling it wouldn't even with all the money and gold thrown at it.
My lifetime total is one gold crown and two porcelain ones, plus a two-on-one implant. The crowns were due to cracked teeth acquired biting down on unpopped corn kernels. I gave up popcorn after that. The implant (which are NOT dentures) was for two front teeth that died way back in 1970 and had root canals. They lasted 40+ years that way until the dentist said it was finally time to replace them. Except for those, I've had really healthy teeth. No cavities since about high school days. I get exam and cleaning every six months and always joke that I won't be the source of the Doc's next boat payment.
BTW, we pay cash for all our dental work. They give us a substantial discount just for their paperwork savings. Our annual expense is less than a quarter of what dental insurance would be.
Being married to a dental hygienist, I know how much it cost. Thank god I get all my dental work done for free. I still have all my original teeth and only two cavities. This is why she gets mad that I don't wear a full face helmet when I ride. She has seen what can happen to teeth in a motorcycle accident.
I once cracked/chipped a molar on cracklin's (or was it deep fried pig's foot?). I think it was this molar. Not much of a popcorn guy but those Kettle corn is pretty good especially the occasional solidified sugar ball that would crack molars. I wonder back in the day were foods easier on the teeth?
Oakie - You should get one of those mouth piece for boxing when riding or put it in when you have a conversation with the misses.
Since we have a full moon, here's another fun word: syzygy.
@yoshmyster The extraction, bone graph & stitches only took 50 min. It was easy until the "novacane" wore off & then it hurt like a fatherless child. A regular cap costs me $556 (50%) after insurance. However, the insurance co. considers the insert & cap to be cosmetic & doesn't cover it. (How is a back molar cosmetic when no one sees it.) So it would be another $3800 or triple a regular cap. I'm thinking I'll pass. If you can, save the tooth.
Yosh, you have to ask Donna about our first date!!!! Or maybe you did!!! I boxed all through HS, On our first date, she comes out of my workout room with four boxing gloves. I told her no way!!! I don't even want to play around. She puts the gloves on and starts punching me, as I am laughing. I did a check hook and she walked right into it. Out like a block of ice. WTH. She gets up and kicks me in the privates. This happen in front of three couples. Needless to say, we still all talk and laugh about it today. Well accept my privates, they still hurt.😫
bullshot, I've been going down that implant road since January. Broke a tooth on Super Bowl Sunday. So far cost is up to $3.5K and my insurance has only paid $500. I still don't have a tooth! 😡
How the insurance price things makes no sense.
Luck would have it I'll be having the yanky while on stay-cation. So it'll be Rum and "Pirates Of the Caribbean" and unlike Captain Jack I won't be wondering why is the rum gone (for a while at least). Stocked up on Kraken rum by chance also. Strange how things worked out this time. Oh I will release the KRAKEN. Thank the great bottle designer of theirs to put rings so they can't slip out of your hands.
Just got back from my dentist told me same thing 1 to 1500 to fix tooth. Pulled it out for what insurance will pay. Not a pleasant feeling. But its last tooth in back. have to deal with it. Doth want to loose any more as i have all my top teeth gone now. Too loose the bottom ones is really bad.
Aren't we just a bunch of sympathetic understanding folks here😜
I wonder how bad this molar removal will be? DDS can prescribe Vicodin, right? Might be fun watching "House" on them. Might make my stacation extra entertaining.
Yosh, That would be nice. I spent several days on ibuprofen & naproxen. Al
So the molar got yanked. While the Chinaman was pulling I felt my jaw slipping downwards from the pressure. I was worried I was going to relapse by getting TMJ but the tooth came out before that. I think I stopped bleeding by the time the nonvaccine wore off.
Get to see the DDS later today for them to see if everything is healing well?
