Head cold update...

Rocky RaabRocky Raab Member Posts: 14,429 ✭✭✭✭

Came down with a cold this week. Actually the first one in a few years. It's nothing unusual as colds go, but I did set a new personal record yesterday: I went through three boxes of tissues.

Nose = faucet.

Before you all suggest them, yes, I have taken all the usual advice - including hot brandy toddies. (Which are wonderful.)

Rainy day today. Gonna put on sweat clothes and consume many hot liquids.

I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

Sorry to hear that Mr. Raab. Seems like cold season has started here too because I know of several down with it. I'll pass on your hot brandy toddy recommendation to them - hey it couldn't hurt!

With all of the rain we have been getting lately, it will be a chore to figure out if I get a cold because my allergies have gone through the roof. Maybe I'll try your remedy too. You know, just in case!😁 Bob

It’s that time of year to start taking vitamin D supplement again and start keeping hand sanitizer in the car. I love self check out lanes in the stores, but they’re definitely a breeder for germs. I always use hand sanitizer when I get back in the car.

    Head colds SUCK.

Dr. Neil Med sinus rinse. It is one of the most unnatural things you can do to your body, but boy does it help clear that crap outta your head!

You've tried all of them huh? Well, have you tried not getting sick?

Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

Having a mug of green tea now, along with some black seedless grapes.

    Hot Toddy

    Juice of half a lemon

    Tablespoon of honey

    Two ounces of cheap brandy

Six ounces of boiling water (The other ingredients will cool it)

For added benefits if you have them, add some fresh ginger and a cinnamon stick, both crushed.

When I went to see my cardiologist last week, I left feeling a little light-headed and dizzy. By the time I got home, my head was a fountain of all kinds of nastiness. Unfortunately, my wife caught it from me, then we were both going through Kleenexes like crazy. Today Is the first time I've felt back to normal.

Started feeling it Tuesday. Shot some Zicam up my nose. Wednesday I was a faucet, coughing, sneezing, itchy eyes...the works. More Zicam.

Yesterday was better. Today, I managed my half mile on the treadmill (still pretty gimpy from the back surgery) and feel almost all better. Three cheers for rest, fluids, hot toddies - and Zicam.

Thanks for all the good wishes, folks.
