Longer version of same video, slow motion. It cut the carotid artery.

Absolutely terrible. What are the odds of that happening?

Question is.........was the high leg/kick intentional?

Many online comments note the very unusual leg/foot position of the skater while moving down-ice.

    What say you?

Looked intentional to me. Manslaughter minimum.

In the early 60's we played "Beaver pond hocky" in Pa. I was knocked down and fell on my skate. The back portion of the skate blade penetrated my left buttock about three inches. I bled all over the ice. Bill Pryor and Dave Hamilton, (later a door gunner in Vietnam) Took me to the hospital in Bills Dads '53 Pontiac. They never did get the blood off the front seat! After 60 years I think the scar went away...........................I'll have to get a mirror and look for it! BTW, Dave came home and is well, We keep in touch on F.B. Bill passed a few years ago.

Yep. The guy that did it is a thug low life who plays extremely dirty. He needs a prison uniform now.

It was deliberate. He deserves felony manslaughter charges, if not second degree homicide.

Arrest made after ex-NHL player Adam Johnson killed in on-ice collision

Police in England have arrested a man in connection to the death of hockey player Adam Johnson.

The man in police custody was charged with suspicion of manslaughter.

Johnson, who played for the Nottingham Panthers, died after his neck was cut by the skate blade of the Sheffield Steelers’ Matt Petgrave during an on-ice collision.

“Our investigation launched immediately following this tragedy and we have been carrying out extensive inquiries ever since to piece together the events which led to the loss of Adam in these unprecedented circumstances,” Sheffield Detective Chief Superintendent Becs Horsfall said in a statement, according to the Independent.

“We have been speaking to highly specialized experts in their field to assist in our inquiries and continue to work closely with the health and safety department at Sheffield City Council, which is supporting our ongoing investigation.

“Adam’s death has sent shockwaves through many communities, from our local residents here in Sheffield to ice hockey fans across the world. We know these communities will expect us to handle this investigation with the same professionalism, fairness and sensitivity as any other and request that members of the public refrain from comment and speculation which could hinder this process. Our thoughts remain with all affected by this devastating incident as enquiries continue.”

Johnson, 29, was a Minnesota native who played briefly with the Penguins in the NHL.

Been watching Hockey my whole life, and never seen anything so intentional as that play. Glad he got arrested.

I'm not gonna watch the video. Too graphic from what you've all said so far.

I gave up on the NHL when Todd Bertuzzi nearly killed Stevie Moore at the end of a game and then was allowed back into the league. Sucker punch in the back of the head, drove Moore face-first into the ice as he fell, ended Moore's career. The kid nearly bled out right there on the ice. Bertuzzi should have done time for attempted murder because that's exactly what it was.
