Not that I do much any year other than eat couple of turkey Hungry Man while watching "The Hunt For Red October". Since I'm off next two weeks and I see that there is a sale on Jenny-O turkey .49 cents a pound. I'll cook it up in pieces and use the backbone and the breast to make soup stock and give my friend's dog the breast. Soup might be easy and add rice then I got gruel. MMmmmmm.... Gruel.
That reminds me oat meal any one make them savory? I was thinking how folks would make grits savory but I haven't hear anyone make something like Shrimp and Oat Meal. Maybe some folks do? Anyways.
"The Hunt For Red October" with cheap but real turkey. Haven't done that in ages.

Or if you don't feel like cooking.😁 Bob
haven't tried that one, but the bacon flavored is almost as good as the real bacon, if fried crispy......
My go to movie for the Thanksgiving holiday is "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles"
Sure wish John Candy was still around making more movies!
Yosh, you could just get out your blender and make anything and everything palatable.
one of my favorites
I just read The Hunt for Red October for the umpteenth time. What a great book! I loved the movie, too, but that dang Alec Dingleweed just about spoils it for me.
A pity you don't live closer, Uncle Ralph is going all out. He says I'm coming but I'm sure I'll be groggy and want bed.
"Independence Now, Independence Forever."
John Adams
If you lived closer, you would be celebrating Thanksgiving with our family. Your a great guy Yosh, and it would be our honor to have you here with us. Oakie
+1 for Scott Glenn. Also, a lot of folks overlook Courtney Vance who played Jonesie the sonar operator. His and Glenn's characters interactions were fun to watch.
Always liked Scott Glen. He was great in K-2 and Silverado! Oh, and in Silence of the Lambs! He never has received the accolades that he truly deserves! But that is just Hollywood for you.
Not me, Thanksgiving is my bestest holiday. Cracker Barrel is what I am getting this year, catered but I will bake a ham and the best baked beans in the county with added secret ingredients. Anyone in southern Il can come in to my modest home on that day. Got some Grey Goose for the afternoon.
Or dunk it in a turkey deep fryer for a few minutes and then let it drain good. Jerkey bacon ham... Jerbacam!
Best. Ham. Ever.
I am a wild and crazy guy.
Brookwood - I, too miss Uncle Buck.
Thanks for the invite but my travelling days are done after my gall bladder removal. I have to plan my outings according to locations of toilets. And no I ain't gonna diaper route, yet like that crazy killy astronaut lady. I wonder what happened to her?
Yeah Scott Glenn had his decade in the late '80s. He had a bit of a comeback with "Daredevil" series.
So I cut up the turkey to cook flat on the cookie sheets. I once deboned and rolled it but the hack job was easier and more manageable. Made turkey rice porridge. Kind a like congee since I had my molar yanked. Not that chewing was difficult and I didn't have pain either. I forgot to ask the DDS to write a script for Vicodin.
I didn't watch "Hunt For Red October" since I bought another .49 cent turkey a week after so I'll watch it this weekend as I cook the bird. This is a first since I rarely have turkey let alone two birds. The friend's dog will have a belly full of white meat. I think I'll hack the silly thing tomorrow or maybe Thursday? Then dry rub it with the store bought brine. that reminds me I need to buy thyme. I like thyme with turkey.
