Still no rifle! UGH
My 256 win mag just got to my FFL, three weeks later. Not the sellers fault. I sent a MO through the post office. They lost it. Had to put a stop payment and send another overnight MO. Finally got there and the seller sent it out an hour later. USPS took four days to deliver it, and my stupid NJ background check is going to take another week or two. I won't receive the rifle for almost a month, after winning the bid on Gunbroker. Geesh, I might even be retired, before the thing gets to me. At least my dad got me the reforming dies and Mike Whiskey, was kind enough to send me some cases and reloading dies. Reloading for it tonight and then I will just wait, and wait, and wait!!!. Welcome to Communist NJ, where you check your rights and guns at the border. Oak

Agree with Frank, get out before it gets even worse.
Life will be a lot easier when you move to Florida....or is it Texas ? Well, let me put it this way, life will be better when you move out of New Jersey to anywhere 😀

Michigan ain't perfect, but it ain't that bad. Wanna come help turn it full red? Maybe I should post a link to U-Haul prices?
My rifle didn't get lost but it was a pain... And then when I bid I have to basically think about the 140.00 to get it.
Shipping 50.00 give or take
FFL Transfer 50.00
Background check 40.00

Between Traverse City and Grand Rapids.
went to a local gun show today and spotted a nice Astra a-80 in .45 acp, haggled a bit and said OK. filled out 2 forms Fed. 4473 and state handgun form (wis.). 10 minutes later paid cash and on my way home .
It can be a Christmas present.
shipping was 38. Transfer was 50 and background check cost me 15. I then spent another 30 bucks for the lost check. URRRRRRG. 133.00. This is why I try to buy most of my guns at shows, but Gunbroker gives me a better variety, and I can find the one I want.
Good things come to those who wait
$40 for a background check. $50 for the FFL transfer. Good Grief!
My FFL transfer is an ounce of silver (currently about $23) and with a concealed carry license there is no background check. I guess you don't even need a concealed carry permit here any more but I keep mine up regardless.
My FFL dealer is an old friend and likes silver. I bought a lot of it back in the mid-eighties so I am happy to oblige.
And are willing to pay!
That $50 transfer is a sweet heart deal, some charge 3x that much. The $40 DOJ background check comes back "Undetermined", and the FFL doesn't release after 30days, you have to pay it again, and that's been the norm for last decade. Then cross your fingers that you don't have to do it again!
The last time I bought a pair of broken .22's from Locust Fork, was a few years ago, I paid more to get them in my hands, than I paid for the guns. That almost didn't happen, if Kasey hadn't gone out of her way to work with me on it, it may not have. She's a sweetheart! Got em both fixed, and they're tack drivers.
I have also had the Post Office lose money orders for guns, twice. Place cuss word here ____________
I've been tempted to send money orders in a box via USPS. Seems like they loose boxes less often.
