My backup for Grizzlies!
Never seen anything like that. Would not want to bet my life on it though. 😐️
Interesting concept.....
I will bet the guy receiving the sharp end of that isn't quite.
Ha! That’s what I was thinking. End result probably a screaming and decidedly NOT dead enemy soldier.
Read the link below the picture, it says that the bolt will pass thru a uniformed person at 30 yards.

THAT doesn't prevent the target from running, yelling, firing his weapon. What's the normal result of shooting a deer with an arrow?
Your correct, no one has ever been wounded by a firearm.
I read the article and I've read all the replies and both were entertaining. During that war creativity sure was running rampant but practicality kind of went by the wayside. I think their claims about this misnamed crossbow may be a bit exaggerated. First, it isn't a crossbow, the arms don't provide any energy, they are just there to hold the rubber bands. Second, I found it hard to believe that the rubber bands can effectively drive a half pound bolt with anything but a mortar style trajectory even at the close ranges they quote. But heck, when you are fighting for your survival, you'll try anything. Remember the aircraft carrier they were going to make out of ice and sawdust or as they called it, Pykecrete? Bob
Edit to add;
This is a real clandestine weapon developed about the same time and was actually used in the Vietnam era as well.
From about 10 yards it looks like that thing would make the bad guy/bear mad. Reload wouldn't be fast enough for him/bear to tear you up!
Useless! No way to mount a scope or even a flashlight!
They may have dipped the pointy end in Curare. (Quote from a total weapon Greenhorn) .......(Not ME!) 😁
Somewhere in my collection I have a book on clandestine weapons. Millions were spent developing them. and some were never used.
I want one
