Yearly ammo costs

How much do you spend on ammo in a year? This includes reloading supplies.
Between powders, primers, bullets, etc, I've probably spent about 1500 Biden Bucks this year. Mostly on 38, 357, and 9mm reloading.

Heck! You aren't even trying hard. Not sure what my total for the year is so far but it would include the 40 or so flats of shotgun shells that we bought at an average of $90/flat. That adds up to $3600 and for my mental health, I'm not going to add up anything else!😁 Bob
Last year I spent more than usual getting setup with a reloading setup. I probably spent 800. The new brass will be reused some but honestly I’m more of a hand loader than a reloader. 38-55 40-65 and 45-70
the last prior 5 years I probably spent 100 bucks a year on a box of hunting Ammo and a couple boxes of range Ammo
I shoot 10 rounds of trap per week(Sun &Wed) ,,,,,, I won’t scare myself by computing the cost. 😉
The rifle and pistol are all reloads, using components I bought years ago.
The cost changes based on how much I can sneak past the boss lady.
I haven't run low on anything this year. I am going to shoot old and replace sometime in 2024.
A lot...... I shoot almost weekly at an indoor range. And several times a year at an outdoor range to sight in hunting firearms.
I shoot rifles once a week & pistols once a week. Usually 3 hours per day. I paid little this year.
BTW, Hoarding ammo & reloading supplies is your friend. Like stock: Buy low.
WOW, that is an interesting question. Ever since Clinton I’ve always tried to be well stocked, enough to satisfy my hobby and not have to worry. Last 3 years maybe,, $400 or $500. Mostly spent that on trying different types of ammo.
In fact I got some 6mm bullets I’ve been thinking about giving away.
I stocked up on primers earlier this year and that cost a pretty penny what with the hazmat fees. And I also went in for about 4000 rounds of 22LR and that came to around 400 dollars.
And last year I sprung for 2500 rounds of 223. Not my best decision. I should have bought about 1000 and a die set to reload it. Live and learn.

last several years a big ZERO I have not bought any since creepy joe took office
with all the covid and related sky rocketing prices just keeping every one home we have not had out normal back yard shoots , we use to do 2x a year
when we would get together I would guess that 1500.00 would be a day easy of wasted ammo but many XX that in fun
but that was with 8 to 15 of us just dumping mags for the fun of it .
however just me the rest of the year maybe a couple hundred tops
as I got older I slowed down big time in just walikg out back and plinking away to relax
and of course the cost of ammo specialty surplus use to be a few cents a round ( the good old days )
Availability has kept cost down for us for several years now
Luckily........I stocked up on ammo and reloading supplies some years ago.
But.......rifles and handguns????.......that's another story!!😎
Other than when some Weatherby stuff goes on sale I have enough to last my life time maybe 300.00 a year
Zero since the silly California ammo background check took place. Also I haven't gone shooting either to keep the stack high in my kettle.
I need to start buying reloading bits if this silliness continues.
I used a big chunk of my Gov't Stimulus Check to buy enough black powder to last me the rest of my years!
Also have enough pure lead to pave a sidewalk!
I have bought a lot the last few years, but as of right now pretty happy with my stockpile. Rural King had the .223 in the toolboxes last year for a pretty good price as I bought over 3k worth at one time and gave a couple tool boxes out for Christmas presents. It sure did make them happy. I am ready if the SHTF.
Pretty much the same as Ditch-Runner. I have a good stock of ammo, but due to the replacement cost I'm pretty sure I didn't bust one cap this year.
$2.10
Probably best not to ask any additional questions, yeah? 😁

I might have hit a total of $200 this year. The LGS finally got in a few boxes of Hornady .30 cal 150gr FMJs in, so I admit, I got greedy. That particular spot on their shelf had gathered dust for what seemed like years. I left one box for seed. Other than that, .45 ACP dies, brass, and bullets.
I'm not proud to be a slacker...
I've been a packrat all my life, so brass and bullets are no problem. Powder and primers cost me $300 this year.
Like others have mentioned, I maintain a fair amount of what I need and could shoot any time I want from my front porch, but costs have gone up and I haven't purchased much in awhile, constantly watching for 44 mag and/or special and will spend a lot if it ever get's to a reasonable price again, the shipping is what usually causes me to say nah, I still got enough...
still sitting on my stockpile of ammo and reloading stuff. doing rimfire mostly these days . occasion 9 mm and 45acp to stay proficient with my carry pieces .Still need some small rifle primers
Have enough on hand to hit the range regularly and hunt til I’m tired in the Fall and Winter. I dropped about $1500 so far this year replenishing, but only when I stumble across a good deal…even if I don’t need it. Figure it’s cheap insurance for…whatever.
Sounds like a question a Fed would ask..
I don't really keep track, but it is less this year than last, between inflation and losing a better-paying job than what I have now.
Say can't you just make black powder? Salt peter from meat curing, charcoal (a guy I know was yapping once about pine charcoal) and sulphur.
Back in my reloading days, I made enough ammo to last the rest of my life, So far, so good. 😁
Joe
Yes you can. We used to make it when we were kids.
Not nearly the quality you get from Goex, Swiss, Elephant....et el. And most important.....not as dangerous as the do it yourself stuff!!
Not sure, but Underwood has 28% off, now thru Sunday, so that will change the annual number.
When Obama took office, I loaded up enough rifle shells to last me the rest of my life. I've loaded pistol rounds and bought .22 Rimfire as well as .22 WMR. I may have spent $200.00 in the past year on ammo and reloading supplies.
Honestly I am not certain. I simply take solace in that I reload all my center-fire rifle cartridges, so that gives me some solace that I'm saving money on it.
I think I only spent about 195 bucks on one case of 45s. I mostly reload, but when I need ammo, I get right from a distributor/friend of mine at wholesale. I also do the maintenance on his hvac systems in his office and warehouse. When I finish, I usually find a couple of cases of ammo in my truck, as payment.
I like it. I also accept the currency of men.
