2 SLS marked vintage Canvas Takedown Rifle or Shotgun? Case-no makers name unmarked Winchester??

wallyentwallyent Member Posts: 288 ✭✭

Has 2 SLS stamped on leather by buckle, looks like Winchester made as the closest we've found one similiar.

Main case--4'x34.5"

Middle case--6"x20"

Small 2-leather strap pocket--3.5"x14"

Can't figure if for rifle or shotgun? and what does 2 SLS mean? and is Winchester made?

Thanks.

They are for old style take-down shotguns that separated at the breech. Very unusual to see them in that good condition. No idea what the nomenclature means. The side pocket is for the old style wood cleaning rods.

Item you bought back in the day after you bought your firearm

Couldn't find much info so have listed it as it is.

I have one similar to yours. The same strap is imprinted with 914 over 32. It has some brown leather added to the seams and has an extra pouch that is large enough for a box of shotgun shells. The barrel pouch is 32" deep. Unfortunately, no manufacturer. Figuring that it is for a shotgun, I'm not sure what the scope sized pocket is actually for.
