See if you can spot one of the issues I uncovered in this kitchen remodel.
I've never done this level of framing on my own before, so that's a bit of a milestone.

There is tape all over the walls! Don
No insulation.
See pic 2. The 2x6 exterior framing was full of insulation and will be again before this is all closed up.

Oops, guess I should have enlarged picture. A while back I remember you saying that they had only used 14 ga. wire.
Yes. You can see it dangling in pics 1 & 2. That is where the microwave connected. I will be addressing that.

Your absence has not gone unnoticed.
Is that mold from condensation?
That's sure what it looks like.
A little unsolicited advice? Tear the rest of the sheet rock out to the corner. It's a lot easier puttin' in big sheets than trying to put in a bunch of smaller sheets and all the muddin' and tapin' on those short joints. That'll give you a flatter and better looking wall also.
Mildew anyway. We treated for that in the portions that weren't being removed.
No one going to notice the load bearing stud cut more than halfway through? LOL. Anyway, there was a bit of trouble caused by that dumb range hood exhaust vent someone decided to put in. Glad it is gone now.

I will probably cut the line up from where it is to the ceiling but most of this is going to be behind cabinets and tile backsplash so it won't be visible anyway.

I didn't mention it because you eliminated it. Nice job.
Looks good. A few years ago, I remodeled my daughter a house. It has doubled in price since then.
The header looks a little weak (non-existing) over that corner window. Yes, I did notice the window was removed, but the header is still missing.
Good catch!
Good luck with the project. I can do of the things you are doing but always takes me much more time than the pro’s.
What makes it more complicated is that I am a perfectionist. Are you?😁
It has a solid header, it's just very dark colored material (you can see I located my 12 gauge electrical line in front of it). There is a double 2x10 above the 2x6 member that frames the window opening for the old window. It was supported by a single jack stud at each end. One weird thing they did though was they ripped each 2x10 by about a half inch which made the window opening for the old window a half inch bigger than it needed to be. My new header uses full sized 2x10s and double jack studs and the window opening was the right size.

It takes me forever because I don't want to have to redo things so I check and double check and then refigure it all from the beginning to check again.

Breakers are GFI?
Neal
My wife is all the time telling me when I take on a project that I tend to over think things to much. I believe in check, check and recheck. In the long run it saves time.
Yes. They were. Except, the dedicated Dishwasher line was not, for some reason. I am going to have to put in a gfci breaker in the panel to allow for a switched receptacle.

Pic #3 and #4 tells me the previous owners had troubles with pirates, who at some point in the past had horked a 32-pounder solid shot through the wall. I doubt they'll make the mistake of messing with you.
Got it. I see it now.
Have the same problem, nothing wrong with that at all, DIY projects are healthy learning experiences because they stimulate brain activity and reinforce self reliance. Good work!
