said good by to out wiener dog last night
Butch out wiener dog and birthday present to my wife 15 yrs ago has not been doing so well
tonight just all of a sudden he went from OK to NG in a hour or so I know he was just on borrowed time but it hit all at once about 11:00 PM
so my wife and I loaded up went to a 24 hour ER vet about 35 miles away called ahead to let them know we were coming
we got there they were prepping him for a shot to put him out and he died before they gave him the shot, he did get a shot to relax him for the procedure but that was all it took he passed before they could get back with the " never wake up shot "
needless to say its going to be dusty in the house for a while he was my wife's best bud he had bonded with her from day one and she is really taking it hard even though we knew it was close it still does not make it any easier .

Our prayers for you and your wife.
I know just how you feel. Something you will never get over.
If you and the Mrs. can manage another one, go now, not later and get another best buddy.
So sorry for your loss, DR.

So sorry to hear of you folk's loss DR. It hurts, I know.
I feel both you and your wife's pain D\R. So sorry for the loss of Butch.
I’m sorry, it’s hard I know. The important thing is you tried to ease his suffering and were there with him at the end. If he could have spoken I’m sure he would have thanked you.
Always hard to say goodbye. Just know you gave him a lifetime of love.
Sad to hear this, been there, done that too many times... RIP Butch.
Thanks all
It's been very sad day
A bit of over kill but a neighbor and friend of my youngest son well all of us stopped by with a back hoe dug a hole for butch . I have always just used a shovel, but my son and his buddy wanted to help
The fellow with the back hoe loves to dig (other stories on that ) but any way it was a over kill , big enough for a pony
But butch is at rest with many more of our furry buddies from over the years
We have two more dogs a husky and a rescue mix lab and maybe with a shepherd or Doberman.
We got her eight + years ago sad part since day one jealous females came into play big time so we have to keep them apart actually easer than it sounds 99.99% of the time.
The husky she is about 10 yrs old has searched all day for butch and just hiding in my wife's bathroom right now grieving
she was about 10 weeks old and has been 24/7 with butch Since that time.
But any way thanks all for the kind thoughts
Sorry for your loss...
Sorry for your loss DR. RIP Butch.
Our current Golden Retriever "Corky" was about a year old when our other 9 year old G\R "Archie" died. Corky was right there beside me and watched as I dug Archie's grave and laid him to rest.
Even to this day, some 7 years later, Corky will stop and sit quietly at the grave. I know that our dog friends have souls!
very sorry for your loss. It's gut wrenching.......
He had a long run, sorry for your loss.
