Some will die in hot pursuit
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain

Great performance. I like Simon and Garfunkel.
The song was about high technology interfering with communication, and Paul inadvertantly predicted the advent of the Iphone.
"People talking without speaking..
People hearing without listening..
And the people bowed and prayed, to the neon God they made.."
My old friends come up for a party, they cant talk to me for more than a few minutes, they spend most of their time texting on the Iphone. Texting, they are "talking without speaking."
I have a 16 year old grand nephew who doesn't play sports, won't play guitar, won't ride a bicycle. Doesn't study for school. He spends 17 hours a day on the Iphone.
"And the people bowed and prayed, to the neon God they made..." The Iphone is a religious cult.
Will be 81 in 5 days. Guess i was born too late. If I had been born earlier, I would have missed all that is going on now. My sweetheart Diane use too say i should have been born in the days of the Wild West. Maybe she was right.
Yesterday when I visited my old place of employment, it really gave me the creeps seeing all those empty spaces because the occupants were working from home. Kinda like a ghost town. Those that were there were on Iphones or staring at the screen. No communication with fellow workers.
Few months back took truck to dealer for state inspection. About 20 people in waiting room all on smart phones, every single one of them except one fella who grabbed a cup of coffee and sat on high stool right across from me. Todays paper on the table but he wanted no part of it. Told me it was refreshing to find one normal person in the room. We had a good conversation about the state of the world that is on fire. Turns out we were both deer hunters. He looked up at huge screen on wall and said i got to go now. The screen says my vehicle is ready. I really hated to see the guy walk away. It was so nice to hear a human voice.
I am starting to think my sweetheart Diane was right. I should have been born 200 years earlier. ---------------------------------------Ray
Seen this myself recently. One guy was using both a laptop and a I phone. About 15 people.
Only 2 not on phone. A outdeoor farmer/rancher type guy in overall's and me.
I've got a cell phone that I only use for emergencies. It's not turned on unless I want to view game camera cards or make a emergency call. It's only received like maybe 6 or less calls in 2 years and they were scammers or the wrong number.
Guy asked me yesterday to text him some info we were discussing. I asked how do I do that on a land line rotary dial phone. He said I do not know. I said, can you google it and You text me at this land line number later. He said yes. What a world.
See they (the smart people) are trying to figure out how to collect gasoline taxes for a EV, who gets a ticket if a driverless cars runs a red light, and maybe driverless cars needs someone in command in heavy traffic.
Seems to me that their are more important things to think about in this world right now.
Great playing, love the purity of the acoustic guitar, although those guys have a fair amount of electronics hooked up to those electric acoustic rigs.
That 12 string guy has a decent amount of spaghetti hanging off his tuning pegs, looks cool in the light.
Agree on the hand gadget or people pacifier ( phone function being below secondary) , worst thing that has happened to our society in my lifetime (67 years) , has turned everyone into a bunch of self centered picture takers.
Thanks for the post Mr.P. It brings back some memories of 60 years ago. I use to play some of S&G's songs on my old Martin D-18. I didn't sound quite that good though!
