Auction company won't pay after sale.

I contacted a auction company about selling a firearms for me in early December. I filed all the paperwork and shipped the firearm to them. They gave me a date of auction, Jan. 20th, but started auction on Dec. 31, never contacting me. I just happened to check and find it up for sale. It sold so I contacted them a couple days later about payment, minus there fee. I was told a few days once payment from buyer cleared. I waited patiently for a week or more and contacted them. They said they were sending out a check that day. That was 6 days ago and they only live two states over. Still no check and they don't answer their phone or email. I'm not sure who to contact or how to proceed. Please help.

We would all like to know the name of the company. You need to start with your local sheriff.
Sorry for your trouble, but dunbarboyz advice about contacting your sheriff is the way to proceed.
You did it backwards. You sent the gun with a promise of payment, but no payment.
Next time, put the gun on Gunbroker.com, sell it, and don't ship it until you have money in hand.
