My girlfriend owns this house in Weaverville NC. The other day this oak went down. My brother and I went down there today and wacked 2 truckloads, starting with the smaller stuff. There are 2 more truckloads to get, the prime trunks. We will be back on Friday to
mop up. I believe it is chestnut oak, a premium firewood.

Glad it fell away from the house 😅
Eighteen months to get a good seasoned firewood if you pile and split it right.
Might I suggest renting a powered splitter then smoke some butts.
Yes sir ee !
Perfect size to work up.
Truck load, just a start.
I can dry this wood in 10 months. This is my non-ventilated woodshed. It sets out in the sun all day. On an 80 degree day, it is 90 degrees in my woodshed. It works on the principle that water vapor will pass through wooden walls.
I do have an electric wood splitter, it works really well.
Where are you located? No way will that season wood in my climate.
A woodshed made of wood.
BTW @allen griggs isn't it some violation of natural law to have both a Stihl and a Husky in the bed of the same pickup at the same time? Like creating a bar magnet with two north ends?
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
I am in the North Carolina mountains, I built that woodshed 6 years ago. I was going against the prevailing wisdom of the firewood experts over on hearth.com
They insist that ventilation is the key to drying firewood. However, my shed, with no ventilation, will dry Oak to 17 percent in 10 months, I have done it many times. This shed would work for anybody, as long as it gets plenty of sunshine.
The Husqvarna identifies as Stihl.
I checked all my sheds today, they varied from 12% TO 34% moisture. The seasoned wood is nearly 2 years old, oak.
He keeps the Sthil for those days when he wants a real workout with lots of cussing! Husq is for when he just wants to get it done fast and simple. 😁
Oak is going for 450.00 a cord this year. Eucalyptus 500.00.

We got 2 more truck loads yesterday. The tree is gone. I never have messed with chestnut oak before. The chart says it is great firewood with a high BTU rating. Plus it is easy to split. A great firewood score, beginning with, we could drive right up to the tree.
Must be very dry to burn well and make best heat.
Chestnut oak is of the white oak family.
I have a moisture meter. It has to get down to 17 percent. The better the firewood, the longer it takes to dry.
Have some 2 yr old white oak, chestnut oak and hickory. Indoor wood furnace. Stuff burns so hot it leaves the firebrick white.
Too bad it wasn't that highly valuable walnut.
