It's a summer thing in my neck of the woods here in Monterey Bay. Global Warming?

I only had a brief interaction with squid I got to go to Japan thru the company i worked for about a month
So I tried a lot of. Local food squid was one it was even on a pizza we ordered
But maybe just me it seemed to be a bit chewed and really not a lot of flavor
I agree 100% Ditch Runner. Ever try a snail without garlic butter, not very tasty.
Off of La Jolla shores, when the squid lay their eggs, you can be completely surrounded by squid. Scuba diving in 60 ft of water it is surreal. Eggs covering the sand, dead and dieing squid surrounding you.

I try to avoid catching squid.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
Used to be a restaurant/bar where they served the best Calamari that I ever had. I talked to the cook and he told me the secret was to soak it in buttermilk just like you would chicken before breading and frying. A big platter of calamari rings with good cocktail sauce and a tankard of one of the many beers they had on tap - OMG that was pretty darn close to heaven!
Sadly, the restaurant is no longer there because the "urban" environment spread and to many break ins made it impossible for them. Bob
BobJudy - Be weary of "Calamari" without legs or all of the rings seem too uniform.
Had some of the best in Barcelona Spain. Fresh caught that day. We were there with some of my wife’s HS students and they would not eat the calamari.
