I lost my dad. He had suffered a heart attack on Jan. 24, was dead but was revived by paramedics only to lay vegetative in a hospital bed until this day. The only positive I can add to my story is at least I had some time to say my goodbyes. He had 78 good years of a healthy life and boom! I sure do miss him!

Sorry for your loss. My Dad died 26 years ago last month. Born in 1902, died in 1998--lived almost all of the 20th century!
Brookwood, sorry for your loss. I am sure you have great memories. My dad passed in 2011 at age 88. He was a Medic in WW2. Last trip to Virginia gave me his 94 Winchester and told me he would not need it any more. Said "I wish we could go hunting or fishing one more time son"---------------Ray
45 years ago on the 19th of this month my father died, I was 20 years old serving in Germany at the time, he was only 52 and had served in Korea before I was born. Grief will always be with you Joel, but we just have to learn to get along with it.
It will be 18 years the 28th of this month that my dad died. He had a stroke, but I was able to get to the hospital while he was still cognitive and I was able to thank him for all he had done for me. My brother and I were able to hold his hand as he passed , I’m so thankful for that I was able to be there and say goodbye, and knowing he wasn’t alone at the last.
We can count are self fortunate in that we got to be there and say are goodbyes. I’m sorry for any sadness that you may have today.
Feb 7th will be 46 years for me . Still wish his advice on a lot of things . Like most of us I seem to have turned into him . Not a bad thing overall.
sorry for the loss of your dad
my dad fought cancer for years he had more scars and pieces removed but kept up the fight until the doc said sorry you have about one year at the most nothing else we can do
we did all we could to make the best out of his last year, I took him back to Tennessee too find old family and friends he had not seen in 50 some years that was a adventure in its self . stopping and asking and getting leads directions on who and where we might find them
amazing we found most of them sad I did not get their address and the internet was just starting out so email was even scarce
that was in 2000 . I think of him and mom often
Sorry for your loss I lost my dad back in 1984.
Sorry for your loss Brookwood.....
My Dad passed on February 6, 2010 and my FIL passed 1/30/12. This time of the year is full of memories for me and my family.... I miss both of them greatly, but try to focus on the good memories and the example both were in how to be a man, father and grandfather...
My dad used to joke about not wanting to be 40, he died April 1st 1969 aged 39.
