High at the range
Today I went to the range and when I was done I stepped into the showroom and thought I had stepped into a dispensary. The smell of weed was everywhere, emanating from a bunch of guys who were about to go shooting. All of them laughing and having a great time sporting their 420 gear and marijuana logos. It made me mad, really mad, and I've already reached out to the gun club about the matter. Suffice to say, I'm not about to keep paying for a membership at a place that lets impaired people handle a live firearm. This range is not the only game in town.
To be so indifferent to the inherent dangers of shooting, so irresponsible as to show up impaired and clueless is just infuriating. But the range has the final say and I guess collecting 25 bucks per person is better than getting called racist for banning some stoners.

Wow! It's hard to imagine they'd knowingly let 'em go shoot bein' stoned out of their heads.
Maybe I should place a sign at the entrance door “NO STONERS ALLOWED”. That should solve the problem.
Pot smokers are just like drinkers, I'm not a problem, what's your problem??
Nobody seems to understand that impaired is impaired.
Impaired should not be legal anywhere except in one's home.
Did I smoke to much pot back in the 70s and 80s?? Yes.
Did I drink to much to night?? Yes.
Did I go out and place others at risk due to my impairment?? No!
You want to get bombed out of your mind on what ever substance you want to abuse?? Go for it!!!!
Just keep off the roads so you don't hurt anyone!!!! Isn't that simple??
Here in Michigan three DUI's and prison time. Didn't slow them a little we have prisons full of drunk drivers. Legalize the pot heads and let everyone talk on the phone and drive. Our governor wants to fix the damn roads. They aren't safe to drive with the impaired.
Where was the RSO?
Mule
They shooters were at the check-in, not yet on the range. No one said a thing to them or asked a single question. Not a peep. Just took their money and moved them along.

I am with you about another range. Unless there was something very compelling about that range I would be changing ranges. Any range that would tolerate any impaired shooter of any type is not one I want to be a member at.
Allowing stoned potheads onto the range. That is insane.
I smoked a lot of grass in my mis-spent youth, but never went stoned to the rifle range.
Truly sad I would at least approach the owner(s) And explain the concers and possible dangers Of what was going on
Just two ball park guesses how or why it happened?
Money over rides a lot of rules and laws always has and will.
The way society is now having to walk on egg shells afraid of major lawsuits
Just because some one thinks or smells pot or there acting odd is any one a doctor or qualified to deem them impaired or just making a guess that could land them on court for public embarsing or harassment or some other dumb charge
My opnoon I agree its wrong to mix being impaired with guns and cars
Like some of you when young we I did my share but avoided shooting for sure and driving for the most part if at possible
Let us know how it turns out

I think those are the reasons no one said anything. We all know the response to telling an underrepresented group they can't do something and the peril at making an accusation that can't be substantiated immediately. And, here in the California of the Rockies, firearms are bad and personal accountability is for others. The range would have brought down the wrath of the media had they told the guys "no" and refused them service.
It's a lose/lose situation and I fully understand the politics of the matter. Bad press in a firearm related industry is a profit killer. But what about standing up for what's right and safe? The worst case scenario is someone getting hurt or killed. There's no coming back from that, the range would have that tragedy over their heads forever. But, if it's then found out that impaired shooters were allowed on the range, the entire operation is getting shut down forever, the lawsuits will never stop, and other ranges will be targeted by the media with the goal of shutting them down, too.

One of the many unforseen consequences of legalizing recreational Marijuana.
I live in whats called Sin City with lots of diversity and weed etc. There is a large gunstore for the last several years and no other. They have large signage at door saying you will be ejected if you are smelling of weed
On the other hand, there is this gun store I walked by, in Texas, when I was driving the Big Rig.
If they sold tobacco too they could be their own federal agency!
Them guys might be friends of Hunter Biden.
Lots of info about such, search: Can You Own a Gun and Use Marijuana?
All I really know is:
I would not go back.
What you got against Eugene?
Nothing. I don’t even know the guy!!
Its another "Personal Responsibility" issue.
Our problem at large is personal responsibility or better put: The lack of it.
Personal responsibility should be taught at an early age by parents, religions and institutions. People who handle firearms should be taught to avoid alcohol & drugs. Ranges must proscribe use of drugs and alcohol.
One of the biggest problems we face as gun owners is failure of government at every level to accept personal responsibility as a cause for bad behavior with firearms. Instead of focusing on behavior, government focuses attention on the firearms.
I'd go to the meeting for the shooting club and let them know.....the next time you smell pot you are calling the cops and getting a lawyer. You should tell them you plan to sue them for all the money you have ever paid to them plus charging a fee for every time you used the UNSAFE facility.....maybe even tell them you plan to call the media about the drug users allowed to handle firearms at their facility. That ticks me off to no end. Its the wreckless people that make it possible for all the crazy gun laws we have.
