A neighbor passed & left a Colt & his wife want to sell ,I have no idea what to tell her , the info she gave was this ,,,,,,,,,Colt mfg ptfa ,Hartford Conn ,,,,,, other side Springfield Armory ,Genesco ,Ill.USA ,,,,Ser.# nm36565..... Thanks

Sounds like a Colt slide on a Springfield Armory Inc receiver. I can't guess a dollar value without seeing it, maybe not then.
I'll assume its a 1911 platform but there are a couple of variations. if you will include the exact number of digits in the serial number such as 36565XXC and the letter prefix i might be able to find you an answer in the blue book of gun values or at least a place to start. pictures are always a big help
