This morning that it's time for Dear Old Dad to hit the range and go to the CCW classes and get his permit. Dad has a RIA .45 1911

The California border brought up this conversation.

I thought I would add that Dad turned 76 in December ❤️🎂

I also have a RIA 1911. I love mine, but there's lots of 1911 snobs in this world who have no trouble telling you what a piece of junk you have. My wife bought it for my Christmas present about 10 years ago.

The Rock Island 1911 had a good write-up for reliability. However, the frame and slide are cast, not forged like the more expensive one's. So, it may shoot a little loose in ten to twenty years depending on how much it is actually shot. In general, it is a good gun for the money, so the experts say. Good luck.
