They re-did "Color Purple"?

I was looking at weekly Target ads since Best Buys no longer list new DVD releases when I saw "The Color Purple" listed. I wonder why they re-made this? Yes I know it's all about money.

I saw Louis Gossett Jr. listed in the cast on imdb. Glad he's still around. Being a "period" movie they didn't have many "others" (read diversity) in the list of the cast. I wonder if they'll do "Roots; The Musical" next?
