My daughter sent this to her father, the old man. I am sorry I don't know who to credit. 😊 -----------Ray

Some years ago I bought a pickup truck on the way home sitting in a yard for sale
Not knowing a notary, the one used had died
I had the truck owner walk into a local bank with me and i ask if they could do it
Well yes we can notorize a title but you have to be a member
I said OK what is the mimum to open a account 500.00
OK I want to open a account here handed the cash to her by now the manager had joined in .
I explained just wanted to get a title notarized and was opening a account and now I am a customer so notarized this title please
Well I guess your right you are a customer now
She of course said how long you going to have this account I said as soon as you stamp the title I close the account
With very unhappy look she said just give me the title we will do for you it and a a save a ton of paper work for us Well thank you I said
The fellow with me who owned the truck was lost for words
But I got the title in my name, and I just brused a few ego's
I normally not a but head but that day They ticked me off
Doing life at 80 doesn't scare me much. And look at all the $$$$ I save by not going into assisted living. Just sayin'. Don't mess with old people.
Now that’s one smart lady that knows how to get things done.
Years ago, I was given a $500 check for a job I had done. Went to the bank to cash it and was told that there was insufficient funds. I asked how short was it and was told $50 so i deposited $55 into his account and then cashed the check. The guy wasn’t too happy with me because he knew he was trying to pull a fast one!
Some of them Bank tellers can really be Jerks, thinking they own the bank.
I used the Old Lady similar trick on one of them tellers recently. (because she had to go by the rules with my money)
She now knows JD Wintworth's rule. (and my rule) It's my money do what you want to with it.
Many years ago, fresh out of grad school, newly married and about a month into my first job, I had a run in with my bank. I had deposited my paycheck on a Friday and started writing checks out of it over the weekend. Less than a week later I received a letter from the bank saying I was overdrawn and they had a returned check from Commonwealth Edison... I received a letter from ComEd the same day saying I would now be required to pay a 200.00 deposit, pay a reinstatement fee of 100.00 on top of my electric bill (which was less than $40.00) All due within 5 business days or I would be cut off.
I went over my checkbook, which was not hard in those days as there was never much in it !!!!! Headed to the bank next and they said my last deposit was two weeks ago. I told them there must be a mistake but the teller smugly told me that there was on my part.
I asked to see the manager who I had met at a fundraiser in the past and told her the story. She asked when I made the deposit and how much it was. I told her the date and amount. She checked the readouts of the day and they had that exact amount noted and listed as unknown deposit...... So a little red faced, she checked my account and my deposits since I opened the account were the same, they credited me with the deposit.
Then it really went sideways. I asked the manager to write a letter to ComEd admitting the error to aid me in getting that account straightened out.. Her reply was, "We are unable to do that" It is not our policy..... I pulled out my checkbook, my savings book, my paperwork for a car loan and put them all on her desk. I also told her the agency I was working for would be moving our business accounts as well.
Flabbergasted, she said, just a minute. Got on the phone and called customer service at ComEd (back when you could actually talk to a real person) and told them it was their error and the payment for my bill would be sent through...
At that point all was fixed. I never had another issue with that bank over the next 30 plus years....
I went to bank to cash in an investment and they wanted to charge me for their bank check. So I said that I would take it in cash. It was a busy day and the lines were getting longer. Even longer when I stood at the teller's window to count the cash,

William81, since the Host is still messing around and you would never know it is me that clicked on like, I decided to make it personal. Great post and the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Good on you. ----------------------------------Ray
Years ago when I was a landlord, I deposited a rent check in the bank. Next day the deposit showed up on my account, the next day it was gone. I printed out a screen shot of the deposit and went to the bank.
I demanded the manager and showed the print of the screen shot. Asked for an explanation and and the said they would check into it. I said not good enough either put the money back in or I call the police and have you the manager arrested for grand theft. Five minutes later I have the cash in hand and never do business with them again.

A somewhat similar situation I was in. Years ago my timber falling partner and I were in between jobs, so we went and cut some shake blocks for this guy. Well it just so happens this guy paid us $1500 with a bum check. Every few weeks my wife would stop by his bank and try to cash that check. This went on for about three months when finally about two weeks before Christmas he had sufficient funds in that account. We always hope that really cheesed that fella off. We figured he put funds in that account to buy Christmas presents , and we snuck in there and cleaned him out.
Don't mess with us old folks. Once you reach 75, the threat of life in prison don't mean a lot.
Yesterday I took a $54+ roadside assistance claim check to my bank. Check was made out to me and my wife and teller would not cash it w/o Diane's signature. He handed me the check back. I signed my wife's name and handed the check back to him. He gave me a really funny look but still he handed me the $54. I told my insurance company that my wife passed away in Dec 22 but nobody seems to get anything right anymore. Took my wife off as listed driver but not main record. I am still a little reluctant to take my wife's name off joint checking account for a little while. Once in a while run across a teller with some common sense.
Was on way to grocery store and fella ran me out of road. I skimmed both tires on passenger side against curb and noticed pressure dropping on my dash screen. Hightailed it home and made it to my driveway before both tires went completely flat. Only 16,000 miles on tires. Two new tires plus towing $625+.
I tell you fellas, its no fun crawling under your truck with plywood and floor jack at 11PM at night and dropping spare at 81 years old. Since front tire would only hold air about five minutes dealer elected to send flatbed next morning and I aired up front tire so he could back truck on flatbed. --------------------------------Ray
I had to explain that meme to a guy at a bar some years ago. He was determined to pick a fight with me, until I told his buddy the above. Thankfully for me, the buddy saw the wisdom in it and hauled his tipsy friend away.
Why? Well, the drunk kept claiming he'd been an astronaut, and I innocently asked him what mission he'd flown. He named one, whereupon I not only recited the crew of that flight but noted that I'd met all of them. And he wasn't one of them.
Did you know most people do not keep their deposit slips??
About 12-15 years ago I was checking my bank balance and realized it was short 600+ dollars, the exact amount of a check I had deposited. Went to my desk, looked in my deposit slips, pulled out the appropriate slip and off to the bank I went.
This lady was so sweet. After looking up my account she informed me that there was no record of me making a 600+ dollar deposit and there was nothing that could be done about it. Than she said "If you had your deposit slip that would be different." I produced the deposit slip. At that point she must have spent 20 minutes screwing with her computer and making 2 phone calls. Even after proving it was the banks fault they horsed me around for over a week before the money was back in my account.
This lady told me she had heard many similar stories from the banks customers but I was the first one to hand her the correct deposit slip.
This seems like it could be a lucrative side hustle if no one keeps their deposit slips. 600 once every two weeks would be an extra 15,000 a year!!!
I figure the bank has a copy, that's good enough. But after hearing this story, that may not be good enough. And what about direct deposit? I get no deposit slip from those.
Don't mess with the old guy. He is 75, and you are going to threaten him with life in prison?? Yeah, right.
