A shoutout to all the .22 plinkers I came to own

I'd like to make a thread to honor the various guns chambered in .22 lr that I owned over time, starting with my first gun.
The first gun I ever came to own was the HK MP5, rifle length, in .22 lr. I shot rental guns before but this was my first time owning one and entering the world of gun ownership. Despite a higher than average armory price, it was a very fun trainer and range toy to get me used to the concept of maintaining, storing and learning about a personal firearm.
Sadly, the people I live with allowed me to keep guns in the house under the stipulation that I keep only a few at any given moment, and an SKS showed up on the local listings that I really wanted, so I sold it to make room for the SKS.
Next up is Heritage's Rough Rider. Saw it on sale at another local armory while buying a gun locker, and for the price they had it at I just had to buy it. Ended up falling in love with the clicky single action and loading gate functionality, even if the .22s were a bit of a pain to handle with their tiny size. The bluing on it was a little worn so I decided to rattle-can it with glossy black to cover that up, here's the original alonside the steps I took to make it look better (at least, for me).
In my hubris, I thought bigger bullet = more fun and ended up selling this one too to make room for a TC9 revolver, which is an SAA clone as well but in 9mm luger. What a mistake that was. Very lucky to have found someone to sell that one, too.
I was without a .22 after this, and I really started to miss having one, so I went and bought something that caught my attention even before I got the MP5: the Walther PPK/S in .22 LR:
This thing is pretty, albeit picky about the kinds of ammo you feed it, and it's been a great gun ever since I was able to receive it this monday. Currently breaking it in with different kinds of ammo to see what sticks.

I am a self proclaimed .22 junky. Your only hope is to quit cold turkey and ship that shiny little Walther to me and I will dispose of it properly. Well maybe not right away, but sooner or much much later, trust me.
I could post a bunch of .22 gun porn to prove my addiction but most on here have seen a lot of those pics already.
Well maybe just one;
I resisted owning a 10/22 for 40 years because I am a gun snob and the they were just to common and not my cup of tea. A few years back I ended up with a plain Jane 10/22 when a friend passed away. I hated it but wanted to keep it because of it once belonging to him. A new stock, new barrel, new trigger and a few other parts and I turned it into a rifle that I actually like. It helps that it is now almost as accurate as some of my high priced tack drivers. You told us about your experiments with the SKS, so I bet you would have no problems creating your own 10/22 build. Kind of fun to do and gives a feeling of accomplishment when you make teeny tiny groups on the target. Bob

The more you shoot,the better you get at it.With a 22,cheap ammo and something that will not beat you up can turn you into a very good shot,especially with a quality firearm.I very much like the Mark series Rugers,one I have had for 50+ years and several newer ones that are part of the family.
Before I got bit by the AR build bug
I put together a few "ruger10-22s " or basic Legos for adults out together a range of them different barrels, stocks ,and triggers . Along with remingtons and a coupe older 22's i also hordedup enought 22 lr to last 2x lifetimes lol
Then The AR built bug bit me
But I finely kicked the aditction
When we have friends or new shootets over , the 22's are always fun

A 10-22 we did for one of our granddaughters a couple years ago.
Oh my, a couple years ago when she was 6-7, she just turned 19 last week.

I thought about a 10/22 to be my first gun but went with the MP5 out of looks alone. After selling it, I went to look up just how to customize it and found a stock and mag meant to emulate the look of an M1 Carbine; that one stole my heart.
H&R Reising M65. A training rifle used by the USMC during WW2. I believe the idea was the same sight radius and picture as an M1 Garand. The sling is original, dated 1944.
It's been rumored that I kind of like .22s. It's all a big lie. I just pull pictures off the internet.

Reminds me of a story my old Granddaddy once told me about a hatchet he owned. Said it once belonged to George Washington and was passed down through the generations. His GG granddad replaced the haft and his G granddad replaced the head somewhere along the way. 😁
I have a different sort of relationship with guns, so I actually never "owned" a gun that was MINE until I was a lot older than anyone can imagine. I have been surrounded by firearms my entire life though. So, my "first" 22 was a rifle that I bought for my son when he was 7. It was a CZ and he still owns it (along with a pile of other things.) I had a picture of him holding it with his goofy hair cut he picked out himself…..it was a number two chicken wing. I just remember him telling the barber his request and wondering what the heck?
Today is Liam's birthday! He is 27….time flies!

I have 3 and 1/2 , a 44us a 27 and 1 1/2 46 b. One of these days I'll complete the half.
None of my 22s are for plinking.
And fiery auto crashes
