Picked up a Remington model 510

Back when I was about 10 or 11, we moved to Orlando Florida, 1959. My Dad was In the Air Force and was transferred to McCoy AFB. At that time Orlando had Orlando A.F. Base, and McCoy A.F. Base. My parents bought a house that had wooded land behind the house and also to the left of the house. Our house was at the end of the road. There were 2 orange trees in the back of the house. We settled in and I started school. Dad went to work, my Mom also. Snooping around the house, I found my Dad had a Remington model 510. This isn't a fancy rifle, single shot 22. It was in a zippered rifle case. I had never shot this rifle. All I had was a Daisey BB gun. So I get his rifle, go to the back yard, get one of our folding lawn chairs. With fruit trees we all know that some fruit will fall to the ground. Also rats know that fruit falls to the ground. I used his ammo and proceed to blow there rats to smithereens. Life goes on. My Dad never found out that I used his gun. He later sold it for beer money. I turn 74 and decide that I will buy me a Remington Model 510. I have no rats in my yard so, I hung it up in my computer room. But, I still have my memories of me shooting rats. I really had fun. I hope this reminds you of your youth.

    Good for you

Sounds like a lot of memories and special times for just the purchase of a old rifle congrats

All the memories we build when younger give us comfort remembering old time and friends in our later years

I am 67 yrs old or young depending . And I still have and will buy more toys from when I was a young pup they bring me some joy by taking me back in time

I really should sell them off my sons have no interest and currently still old farts like me adding to ther collections

Before long like a lot other old things the people who relate Good times to certain toys or even cars will pass, and all value wil be gone

Age isn't really relevant to fun. I shoot mice at night with a Diana .177 pellet pistol and an inexpensive night vision scope down at the hen house. Great sport and it keeps the pests at bay.
