Our younger son, serveral months ago, quit his metal fabracation job, went off to truck driving school, then went looking for a job. He got hired for flat-bed, spent 6 weeks on the road with a trainer. Last week, they gave him the keys to his own truck.
We hadn't seen him in alnost 7 weeks. The company told him they would get him a load close to home and to take a few days off. So, Josh was here for 2 days. He called this morning, said he dropped a load off
in Ohio, now running empty to KY to get a load for Maryland.
Says he likes it.

The best job in the world is the job you enjoy doing, and getting paid for it.
Congratulations.
Truck driving, especially on the road for weeks or months
Take a special person and lots of patience
Glad he likes it
You're saying he spent 7 weeks on the road, and then got only 2 days off? Man, that is brutal.
I drove for 8 years, I was on the road for 2 weeks and then had 2 days off, I thought I had it bad. Tough job I wish the young man well.
"I got me ten forward gears, and a Georgia overdrive…
But nothing bothers me tonight, I can dodge all the scales allright,
Six days on the road, and I'm a gonna make it home tonight…"
Congrats to him. Best wishes sent.
Sounds like a wonderful job.

Drive safe, kid.

Its a great job for a young man that wants to experience the country.
Truckers are the true backbone of our economy.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
They are the backbone of our economy. If, somehow, trucking was shut down, our society would collapse in a week. No food. No gasoline.
Trucking is a respectable profession, I'm glad your son enjoys doing it.
I used to know a trucker, he'd post in the Discord server while on the road with the assistance of speech to text and talk about his job. Upkeep on a personal truck is wicked expensive but he got paid large sums.
I played with the idea but I can't see myself picking up trucking; it all sounds very demanding of a person.
