The old 4' T-12 fluorescent fixture question

asopasop Member Posts: 8,917 ✭✭✭✭

As the old 4' "single pin" tubes are almost non existent can the end "plugs" simply be changed out with for newer "double" pin bulbs? Thanks

Those 'plugs' you're talking about are called tombstones.

You don't have to change anything about the tombstones, or anything about the fixture.

Just Google single pin T-12 plug and play LED.

Great video. Now...do it on an 8' ladder, overhead, in a row that goes to the other end of the building. Then, start on the next row.
When you're done, go up to the next floor and start over.
I understand, it's a helpful video for novices.

Converting to LED is a piece of cake. Remove and toss the ballast, wire all the white wires together, do the same with the black wires, Presto …………….. LED fixture.

I agree with D-R & others. When I built (actually helped) my shop about 40 years ago I installed a double row of 6 fluorescents. After decades they started to fail (ballast I believe). I switched to LED and was amazed at the light output. If you have many as I did just replace them one at a time. I installed 12 as the remaining 2 refuse to die.

It's too late for me, save yourself.

My problem is I have 2 cases of the 4' 2 prong tubes that I'd like to use! But thanks, got it.

Just open the door. Natural light is better anyway.
