For the past couple of years we have been in draught conditions. Most of the time in the Severe Drought range… Recently we moved up to Abnormally Dry level which is the best we were rated in over 2 years… The good news, we received over 1" of rain on Friday and just shy of another 1.75" last night…
We are really thankful for the rain as the our corn has just started to pop up this last week !

Got three days of chilly,cloudy, rain showers.
Our tenday forecast says ten rain days.
Supposed to snow at home in the next couple days. Sure wish I was there to see it.
KY3 News out of Springfield made it sound like the end of the world was going to happen this weekend. They predicted Flash Flood, Lightning, and hail all weekend. We got a little rain Friday, some Saturday night, and little on and off today. My creeks aren't flowing and Bull Shoal Lake is getting really low.
I was disappointed. It was sunny this afternoon and I cancelled a Trail Ride today because everyone was afraid of the weather.
The news from Columbia MO was the same way…. You have thought it had never rained before…

Way to dry for this time of year. I planted potatoes 3 weeks ago and the haven't come up. We need days of rain but there's hardly any in the forecast.
Very dry here for the time of year. Hay looks a little better than last year at this time because it has been warmer, but the lack of rain is making for some short hay.
Here in north MO, all the rain we needed but didn't get in 2023 came in one dump. Around 5" in 24 hours.
Looking from my yard, I can see $5-10M worth of highly productive farmland under 3-5' of flood water. Haven't seen that for 2-3 years.
Michigan is either feast or famine. Down where I am in the lower peninsula, I wish it would dry out a bit. We are several inches above normal so far this year. In the Upper Peninsula, some areas are already in a moderate drought. Way less snowfall in spots than normal. When I say less, I mean 100 inches or more less than normal and that's a lot of water. We have had way more than our share of rain so far this year. Last week we had a power outage that erased the memory on our weather station, so I'm not sure exactly how much rain we've gotten this year, but I know it was over 34".

November through April is our wet season. According to my weather station, we have 20.22" of water (counting rain and snow melt) this year, which is already above our normal 18" of annual water. Not a year ago, we were still in Exceptional Drought, the highest rating, so this year's precip is more than welcome.
But we might not get another drop all summer, except for a rare t'storm or two.
Fair amount of rain here just west of Indy this month. Light rain the last couple of days and is to continue for much of the next 7 days. I generally can't plant my garden until mid may because my ground is too wet.
Western Illinois around Galesburg. Thursday night until this Monday morning 3.5 inches, all has been a nice gentle soaking rain. Perfect if you already have corn in.
We have had rain here off and on. (Northern California 80 miles from the Oregon border)

I know a lot of people out west that depend upon reservoirs for their H20 needs are happy to see lots of rain this year that is making up for the lack of it for quite some time.
My thoughts here in The Great Lake State are that getting an over abundance of rain in short periods of time do no good overall if there are long dry periods during our short growing seasons. In other words if the record shows x amount over the average in the month of April, it really doesn't help one bit if the amounts for July and August are lower than average.
The rain here is needed more on a regular basis and not all at once.
Rain turned to snow overnight. We got a dusting. Bozeman got couple inches. Mountains and foot hills covered again.
Got a good amount of hail here last night that covered the ground for a good while and patches of it are still left this morning. Snow in the forecast.

I'm sure there is rain in our forecast. We have an average rainfall of just over 90 inches, so one can pretty much plan on rain. Forks Washington is just two hours north of us. Forks is the rainiest town in the lower 48, with a rainfall average of 120 inches. The Olympic Peninsula knows how to do three things, rain, grow timber, and grow fish.
Back in the mid-1970's......a co-worker of mine had a business trip to Washington state. He brought back a t-shirt......"Washington.........10 BILLION slugs can't be wrong!!".🤣😎
Saturday night......here in far North Central Texas......we were blessed with 2.25 inches, with a carpet of pea-sized hail mixed in.
The grass over my septic tank is dying.
It " sprinkled " overnight . Not even enough to lay the dust.

We got 3/10 a couple days ago but dry for this time of year. A guy in East Texas said he is getting way to much rain. I have noticed through the years if Texas gets it here in Virginia we don't. Something about the jet stream is all I can figure. When Texan dries up we get rain.
May 1st was a beautiful day for my power to go out. Went dark around 2:30 PM. Weather was a nice 60 degrees, and the sun was shining.
My generator had been sitting for nearly 2 years full of old gas, but it cranked up on the 2nd pull! Got to run it nearly empty until midnight when the power was restored. I can only thank all of those gasoline additives that saved me!
With all of our wind lately, it was a downed tree some 5 miles away that took out our power. It is all good when preparations work, even if I let time pass (which it does so quickly for me these days) without due diligence.
@jltrent not sure about whether it is the gulf and/or Jet stream or not, but we have had a lot of rain the last couple of months in north Texas, I doubt we will be saying that in another couple of months…
My wife said it's snaining at home today. Snain is what we call snow that's so wet it splashes when it hits and doesn't build up.
We received another .75" of rain this afternoon… It came down hard and was over in less than 40 minutes..
