Ruger Mk III Top End to Ruger Mk II Grip Frame/ Receiver

SpymanSpyman Member Posts: 130 ✭✭

Will a Ruger MK III barrelled receiver fit onto a Ruger Mk II grip frame? I have a customer having trouble putting the assemblies together. The two parts look to be compatible, but Ruger will give out no info regarding the assembly because of product liability.

I don't think so. My Mark III grip frame is plastic Mark II is metal.

Only the 22/45 frames are polymer, not the regular frames

Generally the same. In some cases, either the 'lug' or the 'socket' may need grinding. I had to do some 'fitting' to make that work properly. There may be some fitment issues going from metal frame MK to 22/45.

I guess I'm not following your premise because the hammer lug and the mainspring socket are both integral to the metal MK II frame and are not part of the MK III upper. Neither part is from a 22/45 model. The problem is the parts fit together as they should (as per instructions), but the bolt cannot be opened once assembly is completed.

Is the hammer strut in place?

Yes, i have had many of these apart. Since my last post , I have determined the problem and corrected it. It was not related to the actual fitment of the two parts, but rather a different frame internal part being incorrectly fitted. Thanks for everyones help?
