waltermoewaltermoe Member Posts: 1,995 ✭✭✭✭

Preparation the day before having a colonoscopy. Especially if it’s a nice day out. Lol

I didn't want to know, but clicked into this thread anyway. Not sure what's wrong with me.

    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche

I've had either three or four of them. All clean. Doc says that I'm done with them. I was sure he'd want one more, but since I've never even had a polyp, I guess he's happy.

My late FIL died of colon cancer, however. I can tell you it is NOT a nice way to go. If your Doc says to get a colonoscopy, get one. Cancer is a thousand times worse than the prep day. The first symptom might be when your Doc tells you you have six months to live.

    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

I've had two about 10 years apart. The second prep was much better than the first. I wish I would have recorded what the 2 meds were. The doc commented on how clean I was after the second. I didn't know if it was appropriate to say thank you or not.

It's too late for me, save yourself.

I don't know what the Twilight medication is that they gave me but I've never slept that well in years and it was probably only for ten minutes or so. The best part was I had no issues to be concerned about.

I'm due for another colonoscopy, but I keep coming up with things that need to be done, and I can't find the Dr. that did my last one.

Well that’s over with. Didn’t take that long.

I was hoping he would say everything was good. I guess I got rectal cancer. I’m going to have to start with a cat scan next week and then they set me up with an oncology doctor, and then start treatment. I will have to admit I’m a little scared. I want to make sure I got everything in order for Wanda if things go south. I will ask the lord to help me through this and give me guidance and strength.

What's even less fun? Getting nicked during the procedure and having it abscess 3 days later. Wife and 4 yo grandson took me to the ER, and he cried when the doctor said he was going to admit me. At that time, the little guy had never seen anybody he knew come out of a hospital alive. They put an approximately 6 inch tube in from my side to drain the abscess. 5 days later when they pulled it out was some of the most intense pain I've ever experienced. I've had another colonoscopy since then, but thought hard and long about it … and changed the Doctor.

I’ve had about 20 of them. Was on a six month schedule towards the end. I would suggest, however, that getting scoped every now and then is preferable to having your colon removed.

Walter, you now have a fighting chance. Had you just blown off the exam, you'd have been unaware until it was too late.

Let that be a lesson to all you "I ain't doing that" crowd.

    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

@waltermoe sorry that happened, but at least you know now and can hopefully deal with it quickly and successfully. Good thoughts being sent your way.

    @Brookwood @Don McManus @Rocky Raab @Mobuck @Ruger4me

Thank you all for your prayers and advise.
It’s the following day now and my head is more cleared up and able to understand the problem at hand. Knowing people I have never really meet in person are giving me support is up lifting, and again I thank you.
