MOVING- again FL to PA

As life does, I have been thrown a curve ball.
I’ll be moving from Orlando, FL to Scranton, PA in the next 30-60 days
The company has a problem & I got tapped to go fix it.
2-4 years. Talked with the family about me just commuting back & forth and everyone said, if I’m going we’re all going.
We are moving sight unseen.
Anyone know the area? PA gun laws look reasonable, My kids (3 boys) have never seen snow.
Any tips or advice? I plan to make the absolute most of it for the family while we’re there and see/ do everything possible in the Northeast.
If we’re connected on LinkedIn, I’ll be updating that in the next few weeks.

Buy long johns, etc. and snuggies for your wife and family.
Be sure to go to the porch Joey stood on and fought the neighbors.
Call ole sleepy Joe, he can tell you ALL about Scranton! 😁
Just sayin'
That does not sound like a fun time. Sometimes it sucks being real good at what you do.
Do you know how to drive in the snow?
Best of luck to you and your family
Never been there, heard it has some good people and areas but sad pa a lot of democrat gun haters
From what I have heard and understand, PA. is a big anti gun state
Even hollow point bullets gets you prison time
Make sure your up On all there anti gun and anti constitution laws
Wish you the best in your new roll
I've been to many places in PA, but have not lived there. Many trips to Pittsburgh, Allentown, and Harrisburg.
You are certainly going to be introduced to some new driving methods and conditions. The truckers on the interstate will drive over you if you get in their way.
Lots of great scenery in PA, and you will be close enough to the entrance of Skyline Drive to make a day trip. Well worth the time, with hiking opportunities to some really cool places.
Good luck in the new job.
PA gun laws look reasonable,
Really????
Good luck
I lived close to Scranton 20 to 25 years ago and now live close to you in Fl. Many, many pros & cons to list here so if interested in talking, PM me and I'll give you my number. Just off the top is the weather difference and the motor vehicle inspection B.S. Countryside outside of the city is beautiful. Deer and small game hunting is great.
come fall Oct. early Nov. at the latest get a good set ( all 4 ) of snow tires for your cars
You'll be fine, @Warbirds . Good luck with the move and here's a link that summarizes the PA gun laws:
🇺🇲 "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." - Thomas Jefferson 🇺🇲
I live in PA about 2 hours south of there in Bucks County. I love it here no problem with gun laws. You can have hollow points. It was easy to get my CCW there are several gun clubs near me and several great gun shops. Even though I live in a Democrat controlled area there are plenty of pro-gun people. Just don’t cross the line into New Jersey. Scranton is up north a long way from the skyline drive. Never been to the city of Scranton but I like the general area. Someone mentioned car inspection. You need emission inspection and safety inspection once a year.
as far as I know the only state where packing hollow points is forbidden is New Jersey so just don’t cross over to NJ. If you don’t own an all wheel drive or 4x4 you might want to get one. Winter tires at least.
He lived in Texas and worked in New Mexico. He saw 3 snowflakes once.
Sincere sympathy my friend and best of luck, it is scenic up there.
Another thing to be aware of is local income tax. Depending on what town you live in you need to pay them income tax. The town of Scranton is 3.4%. You have to have it taken out of your pay check or pay it yourself and if you don’t pay every three months you get penalized.
I have done many gun shows in Scranton its a nice town. Pa state has a lot of places to shot. Large hunting seasons. Good luck on your move
Thanks for the feedback guys.
I know it will be a new adventure, & I will keep you posted along the way.
Smack dab in the middle of blue states. At least you can go to Toronto to get some beaver tails or hit the Hershey Highway for some chocolate excursion. Then get your history on at Gettysburg.
As for guns I reckon if you want it get it before moving there?
Get 4WD. And do like I do, get some studded snow tires. Mine cost $1,003 but they work great on the ice, beats having a wreck. I put them on in November and remove them in April.

first off, Pa has pretty decent gun laws outside of just a couple larger cities who dont understand preemption.
carry license runs about $20 and amounts to the same as instant check, pic and walk out with it in most jurisdictions
purchases are instant check and take it home, open carry (unless they snuck in a change i dont know about) is legal with no license to carry (but INSIDE a vehicle is considered concealed and need permit)
i dont remember when we had any large amount of snow, been a while
i am about an hr or so from scranton
@yoshmyster Be careful or you might run into Buttigieg on the Hershey Highway.
Worse yet, Buttigieg might run into Yosh!!!
I have to google what a Buttigieg is.
With that move, you won't bust out in sweat when you go out for the paper.
