No photo but the wife picked up a painted turtle of the road
and put it on the side of the road it didn't want To be on. LOL
Turtle time !!!! They are everywhere right now !!!!
I drove to town around 10 this morning and there were over a dozen between here and there.. Mostly little ones but one snapper was about 18" long
This one was in the back yard near one of my Bride's flower gardens…. Always interesting to find them in the yard…
Sunday I rescued a 15 - 18# snapper out of our pond overflow. The overflow is a 15' tall concrete drain that has about 20" inside diameter. After it gets to the bottom, there is about a 12" diameter pipe that goes horizontal under the dam for about 20' to let the extra water out. Somehow the grate came off the intake and as I was fishing it out of the pond, I happened to look down the vertical pipe and there at the bottom was the snapper. No way for it to get out, and way to big to go through the horizontal passage. I didn't want it to die and especially didn't want it to die and block the outflow. I thought about it a bit and searched through one of my tackle boxes for my biggest musky spinner. Tied that on some para cord and told Judy I was going turtle fishing. It took a half dozen attempts to hook the shell by his front leg and then I hauled one VERY p.o.ed turtle up the drain. It came off the hook just as I swung it over the water and Judy was so surprised that it came off so fast, that she neglected to get a picture. Needless to say, that was a new experience for both me and the turtle! Bob
Neighbor had the exact same problem, and he fished it out and gave it to me. Love that turtle soup!
Three Toed Box Turtle.
Helped one across a state road yesterday.
It was pointed across the road sitting at the fog line as I went by.
I figured it had maybe 5 minutes left to live.
I spun around and went back and carried him across the road, 10-12 inch snapper.
Cheifr got it right. Musta been an accident. ( insert grinning devil here.)
We just had our driveway paved which surrounds a small garden below the porch. Each of the 3 days prior, we found a box turtle in that garden & moved it so it wouldn't get either harmed or stuck there. The 3rd day I put a small dab of paint on its back to see if it was the same one. None have returned, but I'm looking.
I helped this guy across Little Pine Rd this afternoon.
