One shouldn't drink Ukrainian vodka while watching "Chernobyl"

I picked up a Five part HBO special on dvd a while ago and I finally got to it. Had a bottle of Ukrainian Heritage Rye Vodka. So I'm watching the show and looking at what I'm drinking and thinking this can't be good. Then the logic sets in where alcohol sterilizes all and I'm sure Ukraine has some "purity" law so as not to sell something that was gonna hurt the public.

Anyways learnt a bit of Russian RBMK nuclear reactor and we're coming up on 40th (April 26, 2026).

Russian vodka as it was still part of the USSR at the time.

Hats off to the Russian helicopter pilots who all got lethal doses of radiation lowering concrete onto the glowing reactor.

Armenian vodka is really good, but hard to find. No nuc worries either.

…wow, that stuff traveled half way around the world…make friends with Jose, Jose Cuervo Gold…either a Margaritta or shots with salt & slice of lime…both are good and not made by Commies…😁…

Armenians are not commies, the tossed the commies, and I drank it there, can't find it here. Better than the "commie" stuff.

chris8X57 - I was thinking grains grown in Ukrainian dirt today.

Yeah the chopper pilots had their moment but the minors digging under the reactor to install a heat exchangers buck nekked because they wouldn't allow fans in fear of spreading radiated particle. Then the broom pushers pushing the reactor graphite bits off the roof back in to the reactor that's still cooking. Crazy.
