New Mexican supermarket Vallarta

Got a second flier this week (last week's flier didn't get me to go) and since I had to be at the dentist I had some time to kill afterwards so I went. They put the market in the old Salinas K-Mart that closed a few years ago so it's huge.

Looked around before I went to get what I went there for Thick cut T-bone for $6.99 a pound. At that price it could've been horse for all I cared. Got a couple for $27 and they were 1 3/4" thick at the bone. I plan to bone it out in to New York and Filet (save the bone for stock making). They also had beef kidneys so I don't have to go to the Eastside of Salinas (the hood side) to FoodsCo. Strange they have Kroger labeled goods.

Anyways while there I saw a barrel of pickled pig's feet. Okay it's more like a bucket but the container was shaped like a barrel that held 5 kilo-g of piggy goodness. I asked the lady how much and she started to rattle off something in by the pound but I corrected her for the bucket. She looked at me kind a strange but I'm used to that. She had to run off to ask so I had time to look around. There I saw a tortilla maker/cooker so that was cool. She came back and told me $50. Which wasn't bad since the pig's feet were pretty big. I told her next time and meant it. Typically I buy the personal size (read single serving) tub that's mostly toes and bone for like $6.

They also had Cane Seco (beef jerky) lime or red pepper. I went and bought the red pepper ones for $30 a pound. On the way out I checked out the booze section after the registers. Checked out the Tequila section as one would in a Mexican market. I then came across Johnnie Walker "Blue" for $220 a bottle. Like $50 less than Safeway. Who would've thunk one had to go to a Mexican market to buy Scotch for less. That reminds me the Mexican market is the only place I can find head cheese so why not? It's all global I guess.

I hope I keep getting fliers to get me over the river (read out of my way).
