I have been upgrading a few firearms lately. Mostly new optics and upgraded triggers. I enjoy keeping busy and making things more enjoyable when I get some range time or for hunting.
Anyone else got any interesting projects going ?
Just finished reworking the crown on my 22 Hornet. it wasn't too bad but it wasn't all that good either. Hoping to see some improved accuracy this weekend.

I have a stripped upper yet trying to decide what it's going to become. Leaning a little bit to 224 valkrie
Noting great some years ago I bought a remington 870 super mag
Changed out the factory stock and forend with a "tactical blachawk recoil absorbing set"
i never fired it just racked the slide all smeemed ok So it was put away
Last week while doing a yearly wipe down and look over I noticed the shell lifter not working
the forearm had small plastic tabs maybe for fiting to the gun any way they would hit the frame and not let it cycle all the way back to activate the lifter
Felt like a dummy for not testing it out before putting away after changing the stock set
I've got 3 projects going, a Winchester 190 that needs a new barrel, a Remington 600 that I need a slightly longer front screw too fit the steel trigger guard that I bought , and a new barrel on a 1917 Smith that has been knocking around for too long.
Got a Millett red dot on a ruger convertible that Im thinking about junking.
Got an Zastava 70 CZ in 30-06 (basically a Interams Mark X). Took the barreled action out to clean up the bluing. The barrel unscrewed by hand !
It was inexpensive so didn't check it too well when I bought it. Barrel chamber after a casting is weird ( 30-06 imp ?) and needs some work.. So I'm after another barrel. My shoulder doesn't like large calibers. Caliber ??
Nothing special, installed Trijicon on a Styer classic in 458 Winchester. Perfecting a 325 grain load for small game. Thank goodness for muzzle brakes. 325 grain pills moving along 3,000 fps at muzzle could hurt.
"Pills"? You must be pretty old….
Gotta turn two pigs of lino into boolits………Boring!
Elubs, I am old enough to need pills that size, blue ones a that. Grins.
Waiting for a new barrel in 6.5 x 55 for my TC Encore. Major smith work then. Screw on the stocks and mount a scope on the picitinny. Wating for a backordered scope mount for my Swede Mauser 94 carbine.

Not a terrible choice. I've used mine to hunt deer during the antlerless season using 90 grain 'MSR' ammo. Expansion is a bit lacking but penetration is good so not much meat damage. Three deer with 4 shots out to 250 yards. Lighter bullet factory loads offer 'iffy' accuracy in both my uppers.
A 6.5-06 is fun.
I guess this could count
Several + years ago i got bit hard by the Lego AR15 builds and did let's say a few during the winter that year only a couple actually had some rounds thru them and just a spray and pray to test function
most Have not really had a shake down or even fired
I put scopes on Just anout all of them again no sighting in just a ballpark bore sight together when mounted
Maybe this fall I hope to get some time to sort out the good bad and ugly of the builds also bought a couple factory buit need to do a test run on
Twothing's Covid came in to play and my sons and family & friends who use to have some big time ammo wasting events in my back yard
Sadly the toys were put away due to the ammo cost and BS covid scare
So I could spend months sorting them out
By the way I am better at building and paying attention to detail when working with a gun, unlike my grammar and spelling on here
I have everything but a barrel and gas tube that I was going/started to build into a .224 Valkyrie.....it stalled and now I'm not quite sure what I want to do with it.
Years ago.......I bought a nice Pre-70 Series Colt National Match 45 complete receiver assembly.
Fast forward a few years....…and I run across a matching complete Colt National Match 45 slide assembly.
I will need to fit them together.................someday.......🤔
I might be if I get a second hand Juggernaut Tactical's Rogue Chassis.
re-barreling a Ruger #1 .45/70 to the ever popular……….. .50/140 (3 1/4") Sharps
Just sayin', gun writers of the 50's used that term instead of bullets.
ON the Zastava 70 . Found a 308 barrel in the back room in a cardboard sleeve. No idea where I got it from it's new.
So on to installing and checking chamber. Will have to block the magazine interior for the short 308 cartridge (I've done it before). And see how it feeds.
Will see how it goes.
Not during the warm weather, but have several waiting.
Walter P22 sight job.
Savage 22 rifle with light firing pin strikes.
Marlin 336 re-stock job.
Nothing will get worked on until cooler weather.
I just redid one of my SKS's came out very good.
Have you done anything with the parts you got from the give away?
I have so many projects you could say. Every time I buy a shop or gunsmith out, it seems there is many many unfinished pieces. I couldn't finish all of them in a lifetime. That's why I pick an choose the ones for myself. Rest go to auction. Did finish a P17 in 300H&H. Have to test fire an sight itin.
Gonna make another one for a client.
Gave the sks parts to my son for his
Rifle
I got a "I don't ship to California" so maybe not.
