that's one ugly bird. are you sure it's a barn swallow? Their homes are normally all mud. We have hundreds of them building nests under our eaves.
That would be a mission swallow, not a barn swallow.
Barnswallow nests usually incorporate plant material to a greater or lesser degree. Cliff swallows are usually all mud. This one is pretty furry.
