Presidential Candidate Security
If you recall, Pat Robertson sought the Republican nomination for President in 1988. I was invited to a fundraising event for Pat at the Nelson Bunker Hunt Ranch. It was an open air event covering many acres of ground.
This was early in his campaign and he was not yet eligible for a Secret Service detail. There were many thousands of people at this event.
Approaching the venue after parking, there was an entrance set up with a walk-through metal detector, manned by a uniformed Deputy Sheriff. I showed my badge and police ID to the Deputy, and she checked it out and allowed me to walk around the metal detector. No problems.
But the point is, there were no Secret Service people there. Security was handled by local law enforcement, peace officers attending were allowed to be armed, and no one got hurt. President Trump was "guarded" by Secret Service personnel, and they allowed him to be shot, along with three other people, one of whom died.
President Trump has plenty of money. Maybe he should hire his own security team.
Comments
I still think it is current events and not necessarily political, but here it is where I moved it.
I agree David, federal agencies are filled with partisan ideologues.
Notice how main stream media is now mum on reporting stories of top DEMOCRATs wanting end Trumps secret service protection.
