Do you stick to the same routine and places when you go out to eat or get together with people?
I've got one family member that I meet up with at least once a week. They live relatively close to a busy area and we have been going to a few restaraunts so often it is like the old saying "beating a dead horse" at this point. I can't get this person to even imagine going outside this circle when we get together.
There are a few others that meet up with us from time to time……they plead and beg for us to go other places……but no, its going to be one of the places in that 10 mile radius every time.
I was talking to my brother the other day and letting him know we were planning to get together tonight in case he felt like meeting us. He said "where?"….then his shoulders sank…..he knows wihtout me saying where we are going.
The choices these days aren't all that amazing no matter where you go…..so I just quit fighting it.

We like new places but going to new places can be a roll of the dice as far as food quality is concerned.
We don't eat out as often as we used to so we tend to go to the restaurants that we know are top notch plus we live in a tourist area and most of the places are geared towards fast turn over and previously frozen "tourist food" as we call it.
With an average meal for two and tip close to $100.00 why take a chance?
$100? You go to McDs?
Lunches tend to be known places along the routes of errands and appointments. Dinners tend to be exploring new places with friends. Not many of the new places become favorites, but a solid percentage are at least interesting.
Dinner with drinks 250 - 300 , dinner without drinks 175 - 250.
That's one reason we don't eat out as often as we used to
Someone tossed out meeting at 630 last week……I felt the oldest I've ever felt when I told them that was too late for me to go out during the week. If I'm not home by 8pm its a no for me.
I think the mundane selection on top of early times we go out disqualifies me from being "cool" these days.
We were spoiled where we used to live as there were so many great restaurants. Now we're in and area with limited options. Most "cooks" around here know nothing about flavor & spices other than salt & mayo. So we only have a few that we frequent as we prefer not to travel.
I agree, we now live about 15 miles north of Daytona Beach (where I grew up) but when we lived in the Tampa area there was an ocean of fine dinning restaurants. There are a lot of professionals, movers and shakers that have the income to support such restaurants in the Tampa area. There are only about four high end places in the Daytona/Ormond beach area so choices are limited.
I'm with Kasey on the timing though, rarely away from home when it's dark. 😁
I guess we stick to the usual most of the time. We like what we like !
Yo, Kasey you will always be cool in my book.
We are overwhelmed with different fast food options . A new one seems to sprout up every month or so. I swear they multiply faster than dollar generals . We tend to stick with the tried and true . Only one " high end " steak house in town and it is 50/50 on quality
We usually stick to the same place, but will try a new place after hearing about it from others. Always good to have a couple good places on your list in case first choice falls through.
Usually go to the same ole place and order the same ole stuff.
I hate to pay for something and it is not fit to eat.
Good fast food id like hen's teeth.
Not much selection for restaurants around here. I meet with 2 friends every couple weeks for a meal out.
we prefer the mom and pop diners, never have been a high end gourmet type person……… and yes me and wife can go out for dinner and dessert for $40-50 with tip most times $25-30 for us both
Going out to eat? With other people? Where there are even more people???
Too stressful.

Yessir, if we go out for dinner, it'll ruin a C note.
Does hanging around a parking lot eating chips and drinking beer count ?
only if you share……
Kev, just double your colander and enjoy the outside world. Grins
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Where we live, the choices within 20 miles is limited to four towns and about 6 places.
A couple of friends of mine own a bar and grill 7 miles away.
The wife and I can eat a great meal, I can get a couple of beers and with a 20+% tip it’ll be under $30.
That is our go to.
The others are a more expensive but still good food.
I do my best to stay away from “corporate “ restaurants.
Id rather give my money to a locally owned restaurant.
I don't mind paying for good quality food. But I refuse to pay for garbage at fast food places. What you pay at mcd's or any of them, you can eat really well at a diner. I am on the road almost every weekend for a gun show. You learn where to eat for the best food. At home wife an I go out on Mondays usually one or two places only in our area. My wife used to do catering so if food an service is not up to her standards they hear about it. I will tip very well for the good service.
I agree with every bit of that, especially the tipping. Good service should always be rewarded financially and if it's especially good, with a note to the establishment about the people involved.

when I have company from out of town I used to take them to a restaurant in Disney. Many choices for dinner but I usually only went to one place for breakfast, The Wilderness Lodge. Many on the forum have joined me over the years for a meal at Disney. Not cheap but always good.
I can testify as to the food at Wilderness and the generosity of gjshaw. Both are great !
Every time it seems I eat out the workers are covered with tats, rings in the nose. toothless, greasy headed, nasty looking, dirty sloughy clothes and pester the heck out of you wanting a tip. Sometimes I feel they ought to pay me to eat this slop.
i got the favorites that I hit up more often but with the old lady I gotta keep things interesting and go to new places and check out the populars in town. She’s in charge of finding them tho cause I can only think of 5 places ahaha.
Do you live in Austin, TX too?
Yes, pretty much stick with a known quantity.
Do not like suprizes or walking away hungry due to skimpy portions.
Tend to avoid places with the words bistro, gastro pub or other cute names, which historically tend to mean higher prices and less content.
