We have a night blooming cactus called "Queen of the Night", it only blooms once a year between 10 pm and 1am and the bloom is only for one night. The flower is absolutely beautiful, about the size of an open hand and pure white.
Got lucky this year and rembered to stay up and go look. Had two blooms this time and another one on the way.
First picture is of the unopened bloom, second is the flower.
Hard to take good phone camera pictures in the dark.

I know right? Seriously though, it really does only open during those times and by morning, the flower is closed and hanging straight down done.
It's a crazy thing, the rear unopened bloom in the first picture is pointing upward (normal), the one in the front is more horizontal meaning it's ready to open tonight and after the flower opens it hangs straight down.
Thank you for showing us. I had no idea. Beautiful!

Interesting this world has some wonderful things some we will understand, some I doubt if ever
OK so you reposted with the pics! I'll delete the other post.
Sorry to hear about Hank. 🤣
@bullshot : how long have you had the cactus?

A little focus adjustment. For you my friend.
Thank you, I don't know how the first one got posted, I didn't do it intentionally because I was trying to add the pictures.
Very pretty
Wow, good job Sir.
Thanks
We've had it for a couple of years, my wife's Mother gave us a clipping from her plant.
The flowers actually sprout from the leaves of the plant, well sort of, there aren't actual leaves per se but rather modified branches that look like leaves.
The reason they only bloom at night is because their major pollinators are bats.
My grampa Harrison grew a lot of cactuses, and he had one of those they were very proud of it.

I never knew that. I thought it was due to overnight temp.
Night blooming tree cererus. Epiphytic cactus lives in tees in the neo tropics. I have seen them in Costa Rica, but only in the day time.
Nice, thanks for sharing pictures and information. I never knew there was such a plant.
Very pretty and unique, thanks for sharing!
Once a year for three hours. That is fantastic! Never heard of such a thing.
That is a beautiful flower.
