The absolute easiest and pain-free way is to contact Locust Fork here on the forums and let her handle it. Very professional and very good at what she does.
I would 2nd the statement above…..She did a great job for me, no dealing with FFL's (other than her) No shipping hassles as they handle all that. They have a great following each week so lots of possible bidders.
One issue of selling on your own, is some FFL's will on accept a firearm from another FFL….. Good luck and put a link to your listings either way…
If you are in or near Texas…. Nunn may be able to help you also…

Still need to use your local FFL to ship to Locust Fork for her to sell your stuff. Since not all FFL will accept non-FFL shipper. Not so easy like the democRATS would make everyone to believe.
No, you don't. She's got that covered.
Now to get back to your original question. You do not need to go thru an FFL to ship firearms, however, you must ship to an FFL only, (copy of license sent to you by buyer). There are some FFLs that make their own rules and will not accept a firearm from a non licensed person. In that case you can have your local dealer ship it for you. (most will charge a fee for this service. You can still ship long guns thru the USPS, as above to an FFL only. Handguns must be shipped overnight (very expensive), or best to have your local dealer ship for you. Again a fee for this service.
Now weigh all of this against having someone such as Locust Fork handle the sells for you and you see why she is recommended. Deliver, or in some cases she can pick up collection, then you sit home and she sends you a check. I can personally recommend her
